Default The New Master of Ionia

The great gallows of Miletus, built by Aristyes but a year ago, served two purposes: Speeches and Executions. Today was the former, although hanging bodies had to be cut down before the King appeared, a large, fat and bearded man he bore a scroll and eyed the crowd with a melancholic face. He makes special notice of his Greek wife besides him, and their children the eldest Alexander already tall and strong.
"Good people of Miletus! I bear terrible news! Our noble sovereign Phillip III is dead! Murdered by bandits and cravens! With him ended the line of Megas Alexandros who freed us from Persian shackles and now wolves tear trough his mighty empire! Power hungry traitors and Persian oppressors intend to conquer a new empire but not one of fairness and justice, but one of tyranny and oppression! That is why, today, wagons with armaments will roll into Miletus' streets. We must protect ourselves in these perilous times, by the sword aye, when the pen fails. I swore once I would keep these lands safe and prosperous, and I intend to keep that oath. I will allow no war to destroy our homes and steal our wealth! This I swear on my own blood with all the Gods to witness!" The fat King drew a short dagger from his belt and pushed it on his palm, a thin trickle of blood ran through it's sharpened edge "I, Aristyes son of Lepidus, swear so! And may I die a painful death if I fail my people."

Opening his arms wide to the heavens and sending a gushing a small amount of blood into the crowd he signaled forth some waiting men behind him "Yet I know these are perilous times and it is why I will grant a monetary help for each citizen of Ionia, so they will not starve or want! The homeless will be granted shelter in army barracks and the sick sent to temples, an age of peace and fortune shall come upon us all! Let the world tear itself to shreds, Ionia will prevail! We will prevail!" The men opened the chests revealing the glint of gold and silver and the Macedonian King waited upon the reaction of the crowd, beneath all those pretty words his real intent was hidden, to crown himself King and Tyrant over his people.

OOC: Factors to take into account could be, he is married to a local woman and has two children with her, one of them his heir and he has lent out monetary funds which may be inducted as penalties if need be.
"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."

Default Re: The New Master of Ionia

Will the actions of Aristyes earn the allegiance of the Ionian Greeks and locals?

    Roll Range: 10/20
Modifiers: +1 for native marriage, +2 for money granted, +1 heir is descended of local culture, -2 due to Foreign Dynasty event, -1 for being a foreigner
    New Range: 11/20 (1 - 11; Accepted; 12 - 14, Neutral; 15 - 20; Unaccepted)
    Result: 11, barely accepted

While the efforts of the King were indeed worth the effort, the locals and Greeks accept this display reluctantly. Despite being a Macedonian, they accepted it due to his marriage with a local and an heir who was of their blood as well. It has dissipated any discontent that could happen soon...for now. The locals are reluctant to have such a ruler. Perhaps his future display of military prowess and generosity may heighten their liking towards him even further.
