Default What do you prefer the most?

    Hi all,

What do you prefer the most in this fantastic DEI mod?

Perso, i'd put the DEI battles duration time in first
Because i don't have to hit pause that much anymore to give orders and analyse what is going on and who is doing what.
When sending an unit to fight or intercept an ennemy unit, i know it's going to last some time, and they won't retreat in 1 minute even if they are a bit weaker than others. Hence i can focuse on other battle part without pausing the game.
And at least i have enough time to enjoy the battle in each angle of view...

Second would be the fantastic AOR system, adding so much auxilliary units of any kind, depending the areas.
    Really interesting gameplay.

And third, the unic reform system adding so much immersion to the game

Of course there are others very nice mod feature, such as the awesome units reworked details giving so much variety and colors to the game.
But all in all, those are my 3 favourits...

On side note, i really hope DEI team will not break my number one preference, when balancing units in future update!...even though i agree some light units needs severe balancing. But i'm quite sure they'll find the right balance without bringing back the vanilla unrealistic short duration.

Again, thanks to the DEI team for bringing up this love to Rome II

Well I suppose it's a matter of perspective.. your number one reason is what makes it unplayable for me :/

Totally agree about the other two though!

I think this also depends a little on whichfaction you're playing. Some of the Hellenic factions rely a lot on phalanx spear and pike formations, and due to their specific stats, they can get locked in a front-facing combat forever. In general, I really like having slightly longer battles. It gives me a little more freedom to get creative with my tactics without the battle ending in 30 seconds. I've been playing as Rome, though.

I absolutely love the AOR/Auxiliary system. Being able to field different legions from different areas is a blast. The units don't all look like re-colorized copies of the original legions, either. They all have a unique flavor.

I think I'm most looking forward to the Eastern overhaul of 1.1.

Well, didn't tried that much Hellenic factions yet...that's probably why...and Fozzie is right, phalanx formations can be locked for ever in front facing battles, making me avoiding playing Hellenics before 0.1 release.
But Romans and some Barbarians are very enjoyable to me in actual 0.9, and had some increadibly epic fights in both.
30/40 minutes of undecisive battles are really fun (if you have enough playing time of course!)

I play mostly Hellenics factions, and they are great, no problem with there. Pikemans or hoplitas hold the line, while heavy cavalry, peltast or/and swordsmans flank the enemy. Simple and fast. However, I play DeI in normal battle difficulty, it semms balanced to me.

Just gave a new try starting an Athenians campaign, and you are right they seems ok with normal battle difficulty.
But dunno why, twice my game crashed during my first battle (VS Epirus). First time i have this issue in the middle of fight...never experienced this in my Roman and Arverni campaigns.

I think it's really all of these aspects together that give DEI that historical, epic feel that RTW2 was lacking.

    The pace.

The number one reason for me would be the factional overhauls by guys like Meneros, Ritter-Floh and Don_Diego. When in vanilla every faction of the same culture was almost identical, with bland colors and textures, this mod gives us subcultures, unique factional units and complete revamps that just blow my mind (Carthage, Macedon, Averni, Suebi, the new auxiliaries,… to name but a few). And they keep getting better at it, to my eyes improving their skills every turn

Furthermore I also love the slower pace, the extensiveness of the skill trees and building trees... With this mod the game just feels much more complete and satisfying to say the least, and it's improving at such an incredibly rapid pace!

I'm no flatterer, but this team sure deserves much praise.
