ooc: This is Cyprus then? Salamis confused me, I thought it was Salamina, the island near mainland Greece.

A quintireme with purple sails, escorted by ten biremes arrives to Cyprus, they respectfully request an alliance with the King.

OOC: The response is based on not knowing who you are ICly as you did mention it.

The ships are allowed to enter Salamis' harbor. After the passengers have disembarked, the captain of the Royal Guard of King Perseus appears before them and says
"Who are you strangers and why have you come to Cyprus?"

ooc: It was also a typo, I should have requested an "audience", not an "alliance"

The nods, saluting the guardsmen, he is escorted by ten hetaroi, acting as his guardsmen, wearing muscular cuirasses, boeotian helmets and chlamys. The envoy wears in the classical Macedonian fashion.

"We come on behalf of King Antigonus Kalós, to see your King, Perseus of Cyprus"

    "Very well."

The emissaries are led into Salamis' Palace where King Perseus is found speaking with a few of his military commanders. Whent he King ntoiced the emissaries arrivals, he shooed his commanders away and said "Who do we have here?"

"Emissaries from King Antigonus Kalós, your grace of Egypt."

"So tell me Egyptians, what does your King have to say to me?"

    The envoys bow respectfully.

"Noble King Perseus, we have been sent here in search of trade. If you are willing our King offers you his friendship as well"

"And what benefit does a friendship with your King bring to me and Cyprus?" said King Perseus."It would be a pleasure to trade with you Egyptians but I am hesitant to align myself with anyone, especially someone who is so far away from us."

"Your island, while rich, hasn't the greatest military, some could menace the integrity of our Realm, thus our armies could prove useful. We have the greatest fleet and your kingdom being an island collaboration between both could be instrumental for your realm's preservation"

"Your proposal has great merit to it and I am tempted to accept your King's offer. However, I will ask for one thing from him, help me secure control over the island of Rhodes and I will be happy to ally myself with King Antigonus Kalós." said King Perseus.

"Rhodes will be presented to you in a silver dish. If that is the price of your friendship, so be it, King Perseus, you'll have it"

"Excellent, most excellent. I look forward to working with your King in the future." replied King Perseus with a grand smile and happy tone. "Now, is there anything that your King would like from me? It would be rather odd for me to be the only one to initially gain from this alliance of ours."

    Cleitus bows:

"We might need your help, King Perseus, barbarians from the deep South, from Nubia, menace our Kingdom, our troops are outnumbered, and even if our army could succeed the losses could be grievous; thus the support of your army could be instrumental, King"

"I will do what I can." replied King Perseus. "As you have stated before, Cyprus does not have a strong military force and I am loath to send off too many of my soldiers but I should be able to spare 2,000 men to your campaign."

"They will be invaluable, King Perseus, every help is very well welcomed. My King waits at Memphis with his army, send your troops when you see fitting. As soon as the barbarians are finished we'll prepare the conquest of Rhodes"
