If I'm not mistaken, you can:
a) Conquer any non-Catholic province, or excommunicated catholic one;
b) Recruit unique units, that you couldn't have without Crusade (and they all require less or no upkeep than regular ones);
c) Better relationship with the Pope.
That's what I remember so far.
He means for CTW rufats, not M2TW.

yeah, how does the crusade proclamation work?
From what i read in the building description, it basically simulates the population loss of a crusade as your people go to the Holy land whilst you march an army there to capture the province. Once you've taken your target province, you build a new building there and demolish the crusade proclomation in the settlement you built it in.

To make it a bit complete: The crusade proclamation shall increase also the historical imagination, that you feel like a crusader then, and it just explains actually the goals (and circumstances), if you really read the description :wink:The crusade proclamation in some of the european major cities is rather something for the flavour, but correct, you will get info about the crusade goals. And for realism, it has a little minus pop-growth, to reflect the pilgrims/crusade followers etc., which were indeed numerous in those times of crusades. But you can as well build an "end of crusade-proclamation" building, to revert the pop-growth back. Plus, the minus pop-growth can help in later settlement developments against squalor, if you have actually too much pop-growth, or just you would like to avoid a too fast growth.
The actual crusade-state foundation (with a lot of boni) happens then in the crusade goal regions.

Hey Davinci, I love the crusades! I've managed to succesfully pull off a little crusade to Malta, were I got some nice crusader units (Crusaders sergeants and spearmen to be precise). Is there any chance of ever seeing "Turcopoles", or Knights from certain Orders (perhaps these are outside the early era's timeframe)?

look at the building browser. There is another crusades building a step up from proclimation. You get some really cool units there. Hospitlers, templars, and a few others.i only found out after I took jerusalem.
P.s> is it just me or does the travel distances of units shorten after each turn.
i cant recruit templar knights, anyone know how can i recruit them?

Look into FAQ also, to learn to browsing the building-browser to see actually in which region/settlement you can build which kind of building and which kind of unit. The tech-tree and the building-descriptions will tell you everything.

ok, im lost. lol Im no noob, but I never knew you could crusade in your mod. I thought of just building up an army, and sending it off to crusade, pretending like it was. So what do you guys do to get a crusade going???? Can you only choose from certain factions to crusade??? Also, can the Polish Crusade in the baltics??? Please let me know cause now im excited to play when i get home. 6 hours left of work. = (

im having some troubles with theese martial law and the others, firstly the martial law do not give the NEGATIVE effects of having it on. its kinda funny that noone gets ****** of (or die for that matter) when you go around hanging people for being outside. and the Crusade proclamation does NOT have an info about the specific crusade goal, maybe you only need 1 crusade proclamation
The negative effects of martial law and other buildings do work!
A building cannot produce a real negative effect, it can only affect the granted positive effects of other buildings, but not basic effects of the city itself (e.g. harvest) or those of your governor (traits and ancillaries).
