Making Friends in Sogdia
Diadotus was flanked by a contagion of men of Hellas and Macedonia as well as a century of Sogdian noblemen, who'd fought for Alexander under Diadotus' command. He wore the native armor and sat upon a native horse. He'd gathered them below the Sogdian rock, where Alexander had conquered them four years ago with "winged men." Since then the tribal warriors had figured out Alexander's trick and with his recent death, they had lost faith in the Macedonians foreigners. Many complaints had surfaced about Roxanne. Where was she? When could we see her again? Though her father ruled independently in the southern Bactria, he still had friends and relatives up here who wondered where the prized daughter of the East had gone. '
Diadotus rode forward, unflinching as he looked into the Persians black eyes. "I fought side by side with Iskander and his father before him my entire manhood." He spoke in their language, which he had picked up during his time as the commander of Alexander's missile cavalry. "I've seen warriors from all corners of the world. Deep forests to the north east, unending seas of sand to the south. The great beasts on the other side of the Indus River. All have been conquered. But half this time, you have been with us. And the other half you've been against us..." He took a deep breath. "My close friend Arshia has promised me his daughter, to bind our peoples closer together." The daughter was hideous, but her father had been enthusiastic to the Macedonians ever since he heard of them . "I ask you to let me continue my rule over the land that Alexander gave me. United, east and west we will be unstoppable." He motioned to his western companions, noted veterans of the Foot Companions. "I have learnt many skills from your people and these men will share with you our knowledge and our spoils of war. If it be wished, all my captains will marry one of your daughters or sisters and give you a tremendous dowry in return."

Re: Making Friends
OOC: I think so and having established relations with some of the local nobility due to commanding the Sogdian missile cavalry that Alexander put together. It's in my character bio.

Re: Making Friends in Sogdia
Will the words of Diadotus earn the allegiance of the people?
Roll Range: 10/20
Modifiers: -1 due to Foreign Dynasties event, +1 for marrying local woman, +1 for establishing relations with local nobility
New Range: 11/20 (1 - 11; Accepted; 12 - 14, Neutral; 15 - 20; Unaccepted)
Result: 10, Accepted
The people of Sogdia seem reluctant to accept Diadotus. He appears to be a flexible and accepting character, something that they desire greatly in a ruler. The arrangement of marriages between Macedonians and local women as well as a gesture of good faith to the local nobility make the people show their gratitude by praising his name and showing their approval.
