Son of the Sun, Philip of the Nile
The greatest temple in all Egypt
Waset, the City of Sceptre, or Thebes as the Greeks know it - heart of ancient Egypt. After nearly a full month of festivals and feasts, the Sokar Feast and the Sed Feast and the Appearance of the King to show his new found piety for the Egyptian faith and people the land was ready for its new King. A short boat ride across the Nile and there stood the Great Temple of Karnak, the religious center of all Egypt and one of largest temple on the nile, where the High Priest of Amun-re would crown the new ruler of Egypt - Philip of the Nile.
The Greek man was dressed all in white linens at the insistence of the priests, encrusted in gold and silver and jade, carrying the traditional scepter of the Pharaoh and in the other hand a ceremonial mace. Two prisoners sat at either side of the High Priest as the would-be king approached. The one on the right was a Nubia skin black as jet as the other was a man of Lower Egypt the color of copper, both were bound at the ankles and wrists with hempen rope squirming to loosen the bindings. At the priests direction he crushed the Egyptian's head first a splash of blood gushed from the man's skull next he struck the Nubian who died in the same manner, the smell was horrendous as both men emptied their bowels - at least their death's had been swift.
With one hand he shows strength with the other mercy, with one he smites wicked men with the other he raises up the good, with one hand he brings peace with the other he keeps it. All is as it should be..
The priest of Amun called toward the crowd. Priests swarmed Philip as they removed the blood stained clothing and cleaned his body interpretation for the next part of the ceremony. They dressed him in fresh linens trimmed with gold and dusted with jade, they took the blood splattered mace as well and replaced it with a traditional Sceptre. The High Priest took up a with crown with a red interior, trimmed in solid gold - Philip thought this whole process gaudy.. but when in Egypt do as the Egyptians do.
He who is the Son of the Sun. He who is counted among the gods. He who unites both Egypts and protects her lands and her people. He who causes the Nile to flow and provides for the fertility of these lands. He who is Pharaoh of all Egypt.
He placed the crown upon the man's head and Philip extended his arms toward the crowd. After a time the Priests called for him to enter further into the temple where they would undergo more private rights to complete his coronation. At their direction he entered deeper into the recesses of the massive Temple City of Karnak.

Artist representation of Philip's marriage to Nefertiti
Weeks later Philip took another step to fully integrate into his new lands. He had shown reverence for the local traditions and their gods but as a Greek he knew he could never truly be of Egypt, but a marriage to an Egyptian woman would bring with it the promise that his future heirs would be of the local culture and of the local blood.
After a full week of foreign ceremonies and feasts the God-King took for his bride, Nefertiti - the first born daughter of a prominent and ancient Theben family. Her skin tone was olive, her eyes a clear green, and her curly hair black as sin falling in lazy ringlets about the sides of her face. At the final ceremony the two were bedecked in all sorts of traditional garments and jewelry. The High Priest oversaw the whole affair and finally proclaimed them bound to one another, a sacred bond that could not be broken.

OOC: So you want a roll involving the locals opinion on Philip marrying an Egyptian woman and giving worship to the Egyptian Pantheon right?

Re: Son of the Sun, Philip of the Nile
Did the actions of Philip please the Locals?
Roll Range: 10/20
Modifiers:
- Egypt saw Alexander as a liberator: +1
- The appreciation towards their gods: +2
- The acceptance of their customs: +1
- Foreign Dynasty (due to event): -1
- Nubian Uprising (event): -2
New Range: 11/20 (1 - 11; Accepted; 12 - 14, Neutral; 15 - 20; Unaccepted)
Result: 18, Unaccepted (I knew this was gonna happen at some point)
The people of Thebes began to voice their displeasure towards these new rulers. Many began to voice their removal and that they dare see themselves as the sons of their gods! It is only due to the guards present that the mob is held at bay and prevented from tearing Philip limb from limb. This bodes ill omens for Philip's near future if he cannot find a way to remedy this. The High Priest recommends that Philip take to the field with his army and dispel the Nubian rebels, else his realm will be lost.
The Foreign Dynasties event will continue, and it almost broke out into another full rebellion. The defeat of the Nubian Uprisings may go a long ways to reassuring the people and as well as solidifying your rule. The people, upon seeing your military might, will then see you as a god and truly come to respect you.
