    Default medieval 2 generals?

This is one thing I have been wondering about.

In rome total war I was a bit annoyed about the fact that generals very often didnt look like their poirtrait on the battlefield.

With the greek civilizations it didnt matter much since they all were wearing a full face helmet. Barbarians however rarely had a beard on their portrait and never such a long one as the general model had. Furthermore I think that the Brutii generals should all have a green outfit on the portrait, the Jullii red and the Scippii blue. the brown ones could be from the senate.

Will this be handled differently in medieval 2 total war? I dont mind several civilizations drawing from the same portrait pool but will they look like themselves ingame? I am happy enough about correct hair. grey when they are old and their own color when younger. a beard when they have a beard and a mustace when they have a mustace.

And will faction leaders and faction heirs look different than the other generals? Especially the faction leader should look different.

A random set of captains would be nice too so they wont always look the same.

In MTW2, generals and kings, heirs, whatever, have helmet's....that cover the entire face...you can imagine a small beard under that helmet if you want, so it matches the portrait.

wasnt there was only one general unit skin/model

but helmets will solve this problem, andd the captains in medieval are supposed to be random

In RTw there was only 1 general model/skin per faction. If Ca had made a general model/skin for each portrait they would have ended up with several HUNDRED per faction, there are that many portraits.

Cool idea, but I think it might be a bit too much to implement into the game

Will the Generals always be on horseback?? JW since Henry in Agnicourt had his bodyguards being foot soldiers.

I think they were supossed to have different generals in RTW because on Decisive battles and some old beta shots, the generals are different from other generals. I don't know why they took it out.

the only thing that interests me in the m2tw generals is how will they age.
Since the game is 255 turns from 1000 something to 1500. I remember some1 calculated that every turn will be 2 years. Which means every turn your general will age 2 years.
I really wonder how did they make it.

Default would be on horse but you would have the option to dismount your cavalry unit just like it did in Medieval 1 before battle.

They weren't, those were just older versions of the generals models.

Well, that doesn't rule out the decisive batttles part of the question. On the Battle of Adrianople, there is a captian with blond hair and a captian with grey hair. Both Julii.

from what i see with a lot of vids, the not noble gen doenst have a helmet, rather a beret kind of thing, the noble one can be different, in the tutorial the kings harold and william have crowns on their heads and then there is this battle of agincourt were a fully armored henry the V w/out the horse, but the french gen with the horse looks exactly the same w/ henry the V ecept the color

That may have been an early version of the system they used in Alexander where certain generals got certain models.
