    Parmenion

    Parmenion I Eupator

Parmenion is born in Pella which is the capital of Macedon know since Philip II moved it from Vergina to Pella. Parmenion was an important officer of Philip who gave him the command of the Hypaspists during Philip's campaign in Greece. During that campaign he became close friends with Philip II and was chosen to guard his new born son Alexander with his life, After many years philip II rewarded his loyal services with the official title Philos (friend of the king). On the eve of Philip's invasion of Persia he warned him not to go unarmed to the theatre as a he was aware a conspiracy againt Philip was going on, But sadly Philip Didn't listened to Parmenion and he got cowardly assassinated. After his death Parmenion participated in the battle of granicus where he led silver shields (an elite subset of the Hypaspists) to battle which he succesfully accomplished. After the battle he went with Alexander to Issus where he advised Alexander to retreat and wait for reinforcements for the upcoming battle, Alexander ignored him and since then he was accomplished with the task of raiding the arabian inland. It's here were he began to hate Alexander and began to conspire with old veterans of Philip who wanted to return home. However when conspiracy was starting Alexander commanded to end his campaign in India to return to Macedon and therefore the conspiracy got cancelled. When alexander died he did mourn because he lost an old true macedonian friend who slowly began to change in a persian king who abstained from the macedonian ways, Alexander character changed.....something Parmenion disliked. At the partition of Babylon Parmenion got rewarded for his long services with the city of Babylon and it's lands surrounding it. He now has the task the begin the hellenisation process in Mesopotamia province. Parmenion is know to be very religious and superstitious. He's a hard worker who appreciated the better things in life like wine and good food. Parmenion also wants to build a tomb for Philip II to honor him. He also find that education is a very important aspect to anyone's life and therefore he's thinking to start a new library to learn people writing and reading. He earned his nickname because his father was a rich member of the council of pella.

    Chrysogonus

    Chrysogonus I Theos

Chrysogonus is just like Parmenion born in Pella. He took part in the siege of Halikarnassus where he nearly died by an arrow. He started his hatred for alexander since he wasn't choosen as the new regent for Macedon when he recalled the previous regent of macedon to Babylon. In 325 BC he nearly caused a revolt in Mesopotamia when he looted the temples of the local religion. It is said he only cares about his family's reputation and money. In short he's a true hated tyrant who only is alive because his elder brother protects him. He fully supports Philip III on the throne because he's a direct descendant from Philip II who he served loyally as captain the hetairoi during his campaign in greece. Chrysogonus also wants his only child, his daugther Athanasia to marry with Parmenion's son Antiochus to keep the 'family lineage pure and clean'. He earned his nickname because he considers himself a newborn olympian god. The madnes.........

    Antiochus

Antiochus is the son of Parmenion and commands the cavalry of the babylonian army. He's in love with the daughter of his uncle Chrysogonus and will soon marry with her. He's currently enjoying education in Politics from various philosophers.

    Anthasia

Anthasia is the daughter of Chrysogonus and is in love with Antiochus, Parmenion's son. She's skilled in translating and writing books. However both Parmenion and Antiochus worry about her luxury live which costs alot.

'The horses were quickly brought to the royal stables where they would be treated like the king's horses. Meanwhile the guards at the gates asked the envoys to turn off theirwraps to make identifiable. Once they did that they were bought to the royal Chamber of Nebuchadnezzar II, they saw the chamber was still intact and did not not lost it's prestige. In the chamber Parmenion was not there rather his brother's daughter Anthasia was there. Excuse me envoys but Parmenion is campaigning in Susa and his brother Chysogonus lays sick in his bed, guards bring wine and food, the best quality you have and do it fast ! And once the desired foods and drinks have been given to the envoys she began to speak again,

My friends what news do you bring here to the realm of Parmenion?

"We bring news of the gravest type, my lady," replied an elderly Persian, speaking up so that he could be heard, "Kleandros is extending his power in the Far East, and only death rides with him. If my King cannot hold him back, and it is sadly not possible at this time if he should strike quick, then after we are overrun then so shall Babylon be. Kleandros is no fool, and will not kill unnecessarily, but he nonetheless has the might to make conquest possible. Only united can he be defeated, and so we would ask that, should we be attacked, the armies of Parmenion would come to our aid."

As an afterthought, the envoy spoke once more, "I understand that this may not be possible, but it is something I must ask for the greater good."

'I've heard from them'. Anthasia began to speak loud now 'They even said they would crown their pretender in Babylon' Suddenly she became enraged 'How dare they? I vow their end and pray for Hades to bring them to the Tartarus She calmed down and drank some wine to soften her mood 'Yes, we will fight with you if you are attacked for soon it will happen, you can count on us friends' Do you know any other nations that would join our army's in case if you're attacked, the more allies we have, the better the chance is to defeat him. Guards bring me wine!

'The envoys have been granted an audience' In the royal chambers of Babylon they were welcomed by Anthasia, the royal lady who leads the diplomatic talks during's Parmenion's absence. 'speak, envoys of Kleandros, what do you want to say?'

The diplomat bows low before speaking, "My lord Kleandros wishes you and your lord the blessings of the gods. He brings word of good tidings and wishes to reopen relations with his brothers to the west. Trade! and hopes that we can avoid any conflict between us. We do not wish to war with our Macedonian brothers, for it is not what Alexander would have wanted!"

'Indeed Alexander did not want us macedonians fight eachother, trade is always welcomed, especially when it comes from India that has elephants. However your expansion and your relations with Artobyzus have not gone unnoticed by Parmenion, if Artobyzus should fall, who could prevent you to invade our lands? 'Nobody'. We don't trust you as the sole ruler of the eastern regions behind mesopotamia for an invasion is likely.

The Diplomat looked saddened by this, "Then you are afraid of nothing. For there is no reason to fear this. You insult my masters honor my-lady. He is not some Indian chief or horde from the north coming to burn and pillage. He is Kleandros, former of Alexander's of companions much like your own master. Now I cannot speak for your own but when my master agrees to non aggression, then it is an oath set in stone. "

While Anthasia and the diplomat argued over their dispute, Parmenion entered Babylon from the eastern gate. He had left Babylon for a long time now for he had to fight the civil war and eventually annexed several provinces. After much fanfare and honors from the priestesses who are servants of the Olympian gods/godesses he entered the royal chamber where he met with Anthasia and the diplomat. 'Hello, Anthasia how have you been last months during my absence?' she did not have forseen that Parmenion returned so early. 'Good my uncle, it seems you have crushed these pretenders swiftly, the man who is behind me is a diplomat from the Kleanids' She whispered silently in Parmenion's ears 'Do not trust them' she said. 'Thank you Anthasia, please stay here with me and the diplomat as you're more updated on the conversation'

    To the diplomat.

You think you're wise you diplomat, but have we not forseen this? You present us an non-aggression pact, but we know why, you hope us not to interfere in the eastern lands so that you may invade Artobyzus lands, our ally which we promised aid in case that they would be attacked, i will not let them alone' he slowly began to drink from his wine and looked angried to the diplomat. Anthasia continued the conversation 'However, this does not mean we're not open to a transparant and fair political solution, we advise you to negotiate with Artobyzus about his current situation, might his situation improve then we'll talk again, for now we decline you non-agression pact, but we will re-evaluate the situations once the negotiations have ended with Artobyzus' Suddenly the sun began to shine, showing that Apollo awoke and day began

Far had they ridden, carrying riches of great worth on the backs of Baktrian camels, a train of Persian worthies both armed and unarmed throughout. Outriders rode along the flanks, others protecting the rear, and a ragged formation of Hykanian hillmen marched before the foremost figures of the two weaving lines that now rode theoir ways toward Babylon.

Ahead of them came a Parthian, his robes and pointed cap as related to him as his finely bred mount or sheathed bow, the rider clearly at ease in lands belonging to the ally of his King; with him he carried a message, arriving at the gates of the vast city of Babylon as the larger mass of men, women and horses could be seen in the near distance.

Once there, he asked entrance to the city for all that followed him, and announced that King Artobyzus of Ysatis had arrived to celebrate the union of Babylonian royalty.

And once they reached the Babylonian palace, parmenion invited Artobyzus to walk privately in the hanging gardens of Babylon, still having the same glory as it had during the Achaemenid reign. And when they were walking in the gardens parmenion spoke to him, like he was a brother to him.

'Soon you will see a Macedonian wedding happening my friend, currently my son Antiochus and my brother's daughter are preparing themselves, it will be a long night...' Parmenion laughed, knowing that feasts would become a heavy drink orgy 'Tell me know that we have time and are alone, how are things going in the east? Parmenion smiled 'How is your family doing, tell me more about your lands history'. 'Take some whine and take a seat, i assume you have visited Babylon already?

Had Artobyzus indeed visited Babylon for the first time, he had no doubt that he would have been both unable to speak and overawed by the riches and signs of Kingship surrounding him; now he was simply glad to see that the gardens had been maintained, that the people seemed happy, and that Parmenion, though he called himself 'King of Babylon', was somewhat more humble than he would first have believed.

"The East is at peace, my friend, for now." He replied softly, looking Parmenion in the eye, "but I fear for my Kingdom. It is true that Kleandros, yet not his hound Diadotus, is an honourable sort...but I sense something beyond my vision, something on the horizon. As I said, I fear for it and those people under my protection." Reclining slightly, after waiting for his host to take a seat, he poured a goblet not of wine, but of water from a water-skin that he kept on his belt. "My family does well, and soon I shall be inviting you to my wedding to the niece of Darius. She is beautiful, and although her family were not too happy, she will soon be my wife nonetheless." A genuine smile spread across his birdlike features as he opened his arms wide, "what would you like to know about my lands? There is so much to tell, and I do not believe we have that much time."

'Parmenion nodded, i fear for a storm in the East in the near future, i do not trust Kleandros and even less his vassal Diadotus, but you're not alone in the oncoming storm my friend, you can rely on me. Parmenion toasted with Artobyzus, I'll be honored to attend your wedding and will gladly accept, the sun shone on Artobyzus' and Parmenion's face showing that Apollo was happy with the men's meeting, It's time Artobyzus to start with the wedding ceremony, hopefully you can tell me later about your lands. The men rose up and walked towards the famous room of nebuchadnezzar, the room where Alexander died. The mariage could start, everyone was present except for Anthasia herself. Antiochus sat in front of the room waiting for the bride.

Once he (Antiochus) commited his duty to the goddess Hera and made certain promises to his marriage, she, Anthasia entered in the room, those who were present in the room saw her and thought her looks were divine, almost equal to the looks of Aphrodite, goddess of love.

She entered the hall and began to do her duty's to Hera, goddess of mariage, she swore an oath to Hera to please her so that the goddess may bless the mariage with good fortune.

'I swear By Hera, the goddess of mariage, women and birth to be loyal to my mariage and my duty's, all that shall come to survive our mariage and not to harm our mariage, if i keep this oath faithfully, may i enjoy my life and be respected by humanity in all times , but if i swerve from it, may the reserve be my life'

Once the oath has been finished by Anthasia they (Antiochus and Anthasia) began to bathe in their pool, such was the custom of a greek wedding. And once that was done the feast could start. 'Come Artobyzus take a seat next to me and my son, it's going to be a long and though day, Antiochus spook loud now, Servants bring wine and food from across the world, let us toast on the mariage!, everyone in the room shouted, Toast! and after that Antiochus spoke again, Let us toast to Artobyzus, our friend and ally!, Toast!,Soon more and more wine had been drunk by the guests and many of those guests were already drunk, but as custom in the Macedonian world the king was required to be the most drunk person.

'Artobyzus, let'sss usss drink moreee winee, i want youu to beeh my equhal person to be drunkk as a kinggg needss to be more drunk thenn hiss servantsss,
Parmenion fell and stood up again and ordeneed more wine to be given to the guests' The night continued and it was only ended early in the morning when Anthasia and Antiochus went to bed for you know what... Meanwhile Parmenion escorted Artobyzus to his bedroom. Parmenion himself fell asleep in the hanging gardens...drunk

Once in the bedroom Anthasia and Antiochus commanded the servants to dissapear for the rest of the day, Anthasia breathed deep on her balcony and afterwards began to do 'her duty's'

It would be a long night....
