Political Mudpit - for the Mudpit I'd suggest splitting it into geographical locations? We could put like "news europe" or "news middle east" so people can find the latest news to discuss in the Mudpit?

About VV or any thread about history, I think we can use the "academic" timeframes as tags :

• Ancient period
• Middle-Age
• Modern period (1453 or 1492 - 1789)
• Contemporary period (1789 - today)

You can then add 3 other tags because most periods are divided into 3 parts :

• early
• middle
• late

An other information that help when searching for information is the geographical area :

• world
• Europe
• Asia
• Africa
• America

You can then add some sub-types :

• East
• West
• North
• South

Finally, it could be interesting to add some information about the main topic of history discussions :

• military
• warfare or tactic, maybe strategy too
• naval
• economy
• society
• politic

But tags could be couple with a "nomenclature rule" about thread titles.
For example, a thread about the evolution of "petite guerre" (guerilla) during the XVIIIth century could be named : [XVIIIth century] [Warfare] Evolution of "petite guerre" tactics and organization during the XVIIIth century.
And then, the thread could be tagged using Modern period, Late, Warfare.

Yes, thank-you G-Megas-Doux, we are perfectly aware of that, because Pike brought that one up in the Prothalamos.

That being said, could the Curator please check the permission for this subforum and the members of the permission group, because this project was conceived to be a specifically citizens only project.

@wangrin, I never thought about tagging them as centuries, that could work, but I also like the system you have with a cross-reference between period, stage in period, and location - I think having NESW might be a bit too much but that system could certainly work for the VV.
