Steam, MP and IG

A friend of mine bought a Steam version of MIITW. He never had a GameSpy account prior this and is unable to play MP. Any solutions?

P.S. And yes, I used the "search" engine and it didn't help.

You can't play online any more.Gamespy has shut down,as far as I know.

It has been bought by IGN and people who had a GameSpy account as myself are capable of playing through IGN.

There are/were some that preferred Hamachi over Gamespy.
I had not heard of Gameranger until two or three years ago but some have been moving to it with Gamespy's "demise" posted.

Have you checked the multiplayer forum to see what is "current"?

i don't play multiplayer but I'm trying offer what I have read.

Like you said, last time I checked (about 2 days ago) Gamespy was still working even though it was supposed to be shut off a month ago. I don't know how that works but it does. Unfortunately, I don't know if account creation is still possible so it may be that only older players can play (but that seems unlikely; why would it be hosted at all then?).

Gameranger says it supports Medieval 2 but no one hosts the game there and when I tried it some random person messaged me saying that it doesn't work on Gameranger and sent me over to Hamachi. So it seems bugged at the moment.
