Default [Poll] Which regions of the Ancient World do you play in the most?

Where do your conquests originate from (combining quantities and length of games playing)?

Note on naming: I just tried to name geographies in the easiest way for most people to understand that I could think of, not to be the most historically accurate I could.

With the most recent update to the Roman auxiliary system, I've spent by far the most time with them. It just gives them so much flavor.

Been playing Rome most often since they have the most content/love, but I'm really looking forward to the Parthian overhaul. I had a blast with them in vanilla and much prefer their heavy focus on cavalry archers and heavy cavalry. The Parthian strategy promises to be different than the standard anvil/hammer of the Greeks/Romans or the heavy emphasis on elephants for Carthage, so I'm looking forward to the different perspective and difficulty of Parthia.

Are you referring to Spain or the Italian Peninsula? I don't think anyone is having difficulty identifying the location of Spain, and Italy is, in fact, a peninsula. Agreed that in his format, Spain is out of place, but calling the guy out as ignorant because he listed a modern nation to identify a geographic location is quite troll-like.

A bit unfair this poll.. some options, such as Greece/Turkey, have many available factions to play as. I'm not surprised this option is preferred.

A simple list of factions would yield more meaningful results.

Still - nice to something a little light hearted :oP Please don't take this criticism as an attack :-)

i reall hate being land locked, so i cant stand factions like bactria, seubia and parthia. my empires are mostly just coastal until late game. i dont think i have ever gone to far into northern europe. although with the last CA patch, that made it so sea travel takes about 5 times longer than land, making a sea faring empire is kinda ...

and i really like hellenic culture and troops allot to, good shock cavalry, pikes, elephants from syria, and those hellenic legionaires are sexy as hell. perhaps i should do a massilia campain next for a chance of scenery

i also really like the eastern culture, but i dont really feel armenia, and parthia is landlocked and really far away perhaps ill try them with the overhaul in the next patch.

^Every time someone misspells an insult, an angel gets its wings!

But seriously, that ignorance call is unfair, historians refer to the area as Spain all the time when talking about the Roman campaigns there. Its from just the evolved form of Hispania, which is what the Romans called the area, Iberian is Greek.

Technically we should be calling Greece Hellas and Turkey Asia Minor or even Anatolia, but who cares, we all know where those places are...

ANYWAYS, I'm not sure where to vote, I am always moving around, I love variety. When I finish my Massilia campaign I'm headed off to Africa to play as Carthage, my last campaign was as Baktria, and I'm probably going to play as Dacia after Carthage.

^ you have a point, i did not know Iberia got her name from the Greek. But i stand for today more correct would be Iberian peninsula and indeed Asia minor for Turkey/Greece.
Like Britain for England is too, despite what some historians nominate

I made this poll because most of my campaigns are Hellenic or Italian, and I wanted to see if that was a common trend with most players. It's looking like for 43/60 so far it's true, so it makes me wonder if the other areas can be made more fun or if Hellenic areas should be getting even more attention.

How many factions make up the Hellenic and Italian areas? How many of these factions have had proper DeI overhauls?

How many don't? How many of these factions have had proper DeI overhauls?

Your results maybe due to the bias in the groupings.

Roman first, but have to admit Barbarians are fun!...i love Arvernis actually.
As for Hellenics, i'm not great fan playing them with actual DEI (don't get me wrong i'm in love with this mod).
Because phalange formation kill rate is too low for me.

I find mysefl loving the greek mainland start up (Very intense) but the area where i usually pass a huge amount of time campaigning is, strangely, africa...
With Carthage it is always a mess to subjugate it and then, in late game the conquest of Egypt can lead you to a campaign in the far south.

While Italia, for exemple, is often steamrolled.

For me, Germania holds and exudes such a potent mythos that it resonates within me. I know, having a family steeped in the history of that area, that I am biased, but the looming dark forests; the swirling fingers of mist; the steaming valleys and cresting hillsides...

To consider the struggles that occurred in that region; the battles that were waged there.

    It's powerful stuff.
