Default Need help adding penalties to units fighting in forest/woods

    Hi There,

I want to simulate the disruptive effect fighting in woodlands should have on pike phalanx units and other formed units by either removing their ability to form phalanx when in a forest or by giving them a nerf to melee when in a forest.

I know that somehow cavalry units suffer penalties when fighting in a forest because when in a battle you get a little tooltip when you hover over a forest when moving a cavalry unit which says something along those lines, but I just can't find the relevant files or table in the db pack, can anyone help me out by pointing me in the right direction?

It is something that I find unrealistic that units which rely on a tight cohesive formation do not suffer penalties when fighting over rough ground, think about how hard it must be to wield a sarissa in a forest with it catching on tree branches and with bushes and trees preventing a tight interlocking shield wall.

    thanks

    Waldo

I think the only real penalty in forests is to speed and they are edited with the unit_ground_type_movement_modifiers_tables. In order to add a greater effect to a particular unit you will also need to create a new unit class in unit_class tables.

I suppose making Phalanxes crawl through forests would make them weaker, especially if they can't turn to face threats.
