Medieval 2 Gold not working right after patch 1.5 Please Help

Hey, I installed M2TW gold editioon from cd and it worked fine, the kingdoms campaigns worked ok too , I only tried the americas one but it worked. Now I have patched to 1.5 using the link in this forum. the one at the bottom of the list that says 1.5 ( Gold ) . and medieval 2 still works but none of the kingdoms expansions work. It keeps telling me to insert original kingdoms CD . which of course I dont have. I tried it with both disk one and disk 2 of the gold edition as well aswith no disk. It wont work. Please help me figure this out Thanks a lot!!!! --------- This must be figured out before EB2 comes out lol thanks again

Vista, Win 7/8/8.1, disable the UAC.

OK user account control I disabled it and still not working do I need to re install the patch? - the game now ? I dont see why UAC would fix this but thanks . any other ideas?

Take ownership/control of C: drive.
Install tha game anyplace BUT Program Files or Program Files (x86).
Long story short, UAC and its ilk play with old XP programs. Medieval2 is not alone.
Oh, yeah, set the game's .exes to "Run as Administrator" while you're at it.

OK, I do not have it installed in program files. do I need to re install? I will change the exe to admin. This will fix the needing a cd error?

Have you tried updating the dvd-rom's firmware?

Thank you irishron for the time your taking answering this. OK so I re installed MTW2 Gold . Everything is working fine now. All the kingdoms expansions work fine, whther I have a cd in the drive or not. SO I am sure the patch caused the problem. I also know that I installed the Gold us version 1.5 patch. I am wondering where to go from here

I also did the thing with the UAC and I tried running as admin before I uninstalled. I could not find the setting to set it to always run as admin. But I ran it that way one time

You set it "Run as Administrator", it will stick until you uninstall the game. Then when you reinstall it you'll have to set it again.
If you live in the US, good chance it's the right patch. Amazon has had third party sellers that have come up with UK and EU versions to ship to US addresses. What does it say on the box?
I leave my UAC off/ lever all the way to the bottom. I'm like the game, too old to need it. I checked my registry to make damn sure it showed up, "Off", there, too.

One thing I find frustrating with no answer with the Gold Edition, does not seem to affect the original discs, is how it works on some computers and other owners have had to resort to buying from Steam to play. I think it's a crock of

I did get it from amazon, I looked on the box but it doesnt say anything obvious anywhere. I am in the us and would presume that It is a US edition that I was shipped. Yeah I agree it is a mess , you should be able to patch the game without breaking the game lol. - where would I look on the box to be sure ? - UAC is set - ok so once I click run as admin from the right click menu it is all set whether it runs or not? - thanks again - .... any other ideas?

I have the original discs and the closest I can come is on the back saying Sega of America with its San Francisco address.
What other programs do you have installed like virtual drives, cloning software, and EA products?
