Default The Last Battle of the Rebellion, subduing of Dragonstone

The day was calm and the breeze waved lightly the last Targaryen flags flown in Westeros, something Lord Andrew Estermont deemed fit to change. From the south making their way along Massey's Hook the Stormlander fleet approached Dragonstone in the early morning, the soldiers were grim and scarred, veterans from the Battles of Grassy Vale and Storm's End. Although only a husk of the host that issued in the beginning of the rebellion they still numbered a good ten thousand and outnumbered the garrison at Dragonstone by much. Blowing their horns of war and flinging a dozen warning stones on the Island the ships took to the harbor and commandeered any remaining ships, they busted houses, inns and brothels arresting any soldiers present and finally the banners of Estermont and Baratheon were raised high on the Sept's tower. The men from the ships that did not fit into the harbor arrived soon in small boats and in organized companies advance to the castle where they started digging siege lines and raising pavilions. Soon enough the castle was completely besieged and a lone rider issued forth from the siege camp, peace banner in hand.

    Besiegers

    Lord Andrew Estermont
    900 Bronzegate Axemen
    360 Mercenary Light Infantry
    1360 HI
    2540 LI
    1723 Polearms
    3034 Archers
    325 Heavy cav
    596 Light cav
    10.828 Men

OOC: Just some things to be clarified, did the levy of Dragonstone actually ever leave the island? If not there should be a battle with whoever does not fit inside the walls. Also LM feel free to rp someone as the garrison commander.
"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."

OOC: The levy of Dragonstone did leave the Island in the final moments of the war in order to smash Velasco's host at Rayonet.

A middle-aged man who had been assigned as the garrison commander by Ser Janos before his departure came to the walls and noticed many ships surrounding it. Banners of House Estermont and Baratheon waved proudly around it. He sighs lightly and rubs his neck.

Welp, this is gonna be a fun time.

OOC: Even if the Dornish are here Andrew wouldn't outright attack them, he thinks they have been pacified.

The envoy, a knight in shining armor and a booming voice addressed no one in particular in the garrison "Who is the commander here? I would speak to him about terms of fair surrender." Not waiting too long the Knight continued, some could spot an owl on his shield, signifying House Mertyn of Mistwood "The war is over, the Targaryens are dead or otherwise fled, laid down your arms and you will have general amnesty resist and many will die without purpose. You are isolated in Westeros, you may resist should you want but your honor has been satisfied, lay down you arms and return home to live another day."

Having checked the movement thread as requested I can only find the Dornish fleet at King's Landing, not at Dragonstone. An RP was conducted of ferrying survivors to Dragonstone but the mechanical, battle fighting units are still stationed at King's Landing itself, says the movement thread.

OOC: Decided to roll his attitude.

If Ser Janos was here, the keep would have hold, no matter what. But this commander had another idea in mind. His gaze looks down at party that demanded their surrender, so what better thing to do but surrender. The banner of the keep was throw down to the ground as the gates were opened.

    We surrender to you, Stormlanders.

The Knight grinned, although it was not visible under his helmet "Wise man." Signalling back to the camp a column of men started to march to the fortress, four hundred and thirty strong there were a hundred crossbowmen, three hundred men at arms and thirty Knights, much like the garrison of the fortress under the Targaryens. With pomp the new rulers strode into the castle, sweeping it low and high in search of any valuable hostages and breaking into the castle's treasury to claim some money for the new King. In the yard the Knight finally removed his helmet, showing a great beard and flowing dark hair "I am Ser Steffon Mertyn, new castellan of Dragonstone until such a time as the King grants it to anyone. You may return to your homes as long as any weapons are left behind in this yard, together with any armor. If any of you men have any information about the fled Targaryens, Prince Viserys and Queen Rhaella speak now in the name of King Robert."

OOC: Dragonstone will be garrisoned by:
    100 Archers
    300 Heavy Infantry
    30 Heavy Cavalry
and also 8.000 Dragons were looted from the castle (20% of 40.000)
"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."
