Medieval II Kingdoms (Gold) Cannot Uninstall

Hi All,

New user, first post. Today I've been trying to uninstall Medieval II Kingdoms (Gold Edition) from my computer and ran into some problems.

I'd originally installed it about a year ago from CD, but haven't played it in a while so thought I'd uninstall it to free up some space on my hard drive. First I thought I'd just use Add/Remove Programs, but it doesn't appear on generate list of programs. I also couldn't find any uninstall.exe or similar in the game's folder inside Program Files, or on the CD itself. I'd hoped when I put the CD in and it Autostarted it might have and Uninstall button on the launcher, but no such luck. I clicked Install, thinking it might re-install giving me the option to possibly uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs afterwards, but it just said it was already installed.

So, a bit disappointed I couldn't uninstall the game properly and perhaps have the option to rescue my save files (which I couldn't locate in the game folder), I decided to just go ahead and delete the entire folder. However, now the game would not install from the CD (still said it was already installed). I figured this was a registry issue, and followed another thread from this site to the registry entries only to find they weren't there (is this why it won't appear in Add/Remove Programs?). I restored the game folder from my Recycling Bin, but now I cannot uninstall the game, and if I delete it manually I won't be able to ever install it again.

Can anyone please help? Any ideas extremely welcome, as this is doing my head in. I'm using Windows 7 by the way.

I know there's a few similar threads regarding uninstall issues but I couldn't find an answer to this specific issue - my apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but I still can't find any of the entries in the registry that are meant to be there. Is there any reason why the entries would be missing? I know I haven't manually deleted them myself. Is there anyway to add the missing entries into the registry so that perhaps I could uninstall the game using Add/Remove Programs? Sorry id it's a daft question, I'm new to this.

If your Windows is 64bit like mine search for memdieval, official and official in regedit. Vista and newer maybe a good idea anyway.
Also move your Installshield folder to your desktop so the installer can't read it.

My windows (7) is 64bit, but I couldn't find anything in regedit with 'memdieval', however I did find the entries I was looking for by just searching for medieval rather than following the instructions in the link above. Deleted those and also the game folder in Program Files, and now I can reinstall from the CD. Didn't need to touch Installshield in the end. I also managed to find my save files with the help of another forum! There were at:

C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pro gram Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\saves

For anyone that has the same issues, I found the bulk of the registry entries for the game (in regedit) at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Wow6432Node>SEGA
