Why do people think the AI will be good

It always amazes me when i see all the people moaning about how bad the AI is why the AI dosent think to do a flnaking manouver ect. Lets face it if u think the AI would be that good then CA wud be making super intellegent robots what can think and outwit a human being. If u want a challenging game just play MP like i do and im sure most of u who just play just the AI would get absolutely creamed in MP so stop the moaning and face up the facts people are more intellegent and cunning than any AI

In case you havn't noticed, there isn't actually a viable alternative to those of us who love to play the grand campaign, apart from play by e-mail. Which is difficult at best, as you can't force someone to make their turn.

The reason we all moan about the AI, is because we love the Grand Campaign and we want it to be as challenging and fun as it can be. The AI limits this. People don't expect an intelligent, concious AI, but we expect basic strategic moves to occur at least . I know there are quite a few battles I would have lost in RTW if the AI had just moved that one unit over there etc.

the best part of this game is the grand campaign imo. thats all ive ever played in it, and all i ever will. ive played a couple historical battles here and there though. this game is a break for me to just have fun, when i want to play online i play counter strike source. i enjoy finding people who always say n00bs ect, they are always the worse players that act like they are awesome, then someone actually plays them and they suck. if you play counter strike source pm me we can 1vs1 or if you have a clan we can 5vs5 cal league server settings. if your not in cal-m or better though, the clan leader wont do scrimmages so we would have to 1v1 then.

I only played arranged RTW battles with friends, and preferable with some kind of mod. I hope MTW2 will be a good play even without mods, so that could maybe drive people into the mp lobby. Oh yes, they better have fixed that btw. It was totally annoying to have to switch to another lobby just to start your game.

Regarding the AI:

If the AI supports basic flanking, holds lines, does not shoot it´s own men with arrows and can maintain a siege properly aswell as has an AI comparable to one in the Paradox games on the campaign map, I am more than happy.

The purpose of an A.I is to challenge the player, make him break a sweat, curse over his own stupidity when it takes advantage of his errors, push him to the limit of his abilities, BUT! in the end let him win... This was something that the A.I in Rome only achieved the first couple of times you gave the difficult settings a notch up, or when you'd put yourself in a position of disadvantage and advantage to the A.I...

But still when Rome came out, the A.I was still somewhat better than most of the other games out there, so I'm personally quiet confident that the A.I in M:TW2 will be acceptable..

I pray your right, because has anyone ever lost to the AI in rome when being besieged behind a large stone wall? I never lost to the AI when it attacked me in a city if i had a stone wall or large stone wall. I remember slaughtering huge besieging armies with just a contingent of men in the BI expansion. The AI just didnt have the brains to capture a walled city. It would let its army stand out in the open and be decimated for ever by the towers, or just not be able to focus enough men on one area to capture the wall. If you take this problem and multiply it by 3 (walls) , I dont see how the AI could ever take a large fortress unless they dramatically improved it, in fact I am not keeping my fingers crossed.

Knight Yelow did u even read my post, I am trying to explain to people like you that you will never get the AI to be has good as a human player. To say you left the MP community because of "ELITIST PLAYERS LIKE ME" is ridiculose, when did i mention that i was the best MP player there is ???? I think u will find nowherre, and for the most part the online community is very good and one of the main jobs i do for my clan on RTW is to train new MP players so u will find that i wud never call u a NOOB or anything but just give you usefull advice which if you say you had playe MP then you will know its alot harder then SP

When I played MP for the first time, a 2V2 match, my teammate called me a noob when I attacked. Then after I was defeated, he stayed there on his hill until the timer ran out and he lost... (we were supposed to be attackers)... well, that's my first experience with MP...

We all know there no AI in the world that are truly smart enough to outsmart us (except maybe chess...), but we want an AI that is competent. People here are also very frustrated comparing Rome AI to Medieval, while Medieval is not perfect either, Rome was a step down. At least I know if I want to find an army that can really beat me, its in multiplayer, but I like an AI that can give me a run for my money in an even match, not a winning completely crushing the enemy.

Believe me i wud love to play an AI which could out smart me and flank me ect but the simple fact is if u want a truely challenging and great game you have to play on MP like i do alot and i strongly recomend it to anyone there is some really good players online who be ably to show you a thing or two

Basically, the campaign is useless with retarded AI. Why even have a grand campaign if it isn't MP and the AI sucks as well?
