    Default Hero Ability discussion

I know it was a while since it was first announced, but what with the recent hero reveals I thought it would be a good idea to make a place to discuss them , I will update this post with any changes or updates as they come.

    Brief Description

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Hero Abilities

If it was not obvious by now, there are just certain things the Medieval 2 engine was not intended for that other engines are remarkably better at. One of these features are Hero Abilities.

The Hero Abilities introduced in the Kingdom Expansion Pack have a surprisingly limited number of effects that can be used. Virtually all of them influence morale. Even more unfortunately, Hero Abilities are only possible in a campaign game, it's impossible to assign them to units in Custom Battle. As such, it's safe to say we won't be expecting any of the hero characters to pull off some ridiculous magic but they will be doing something other then blowing a horn.

All abilities fall into one or more of these categories:

Buff: These types of abilities affect one or more of your units in a positive way. Some effects of Buff abilities include improving combat effectiveness, raising morale, and draining fatigue.

Debuff: Debuffs have the inverse effect of Buffs and are usually cast on an enemy unit or units. Debuff effects include scaring enemies into retreating, increasing their fatigue, or lowering their combat effectiveness.

Offensive: These abilities are usually ranged attacks that the hero performs on an enemy or group of enemies. Factors such as terrain and weather can hinder projectiles and their effectiveness.

Would it be better if I split them into factions, then into separate spoilers, like Drazule did for the tech trees?

Yes... Although, I'm not sure why the 'can only be used once' line is there if the ability continues for the remainder of the battle. Anyone?

That is true! The thing is, they couldn't not ever retreat more than once anyway. The only reason for locking the ability after the first shot would be, to prevent people spamming pointlessly.

(which actually is a fairly good reason...)

    Also...

For "The Kingdom Of The Golden Land Mod". We have a archer unit, that can use stakes, after that they can use Fire or normal arrows. and after they are out of ammo. they can do the schiltrom Formation.

All in all. they have 3 abilitys.

    @Eldren
That I actually like the sound of. Although, the first ability being Stalfos Mode (thanks N64IK), the second would have to be either something small or a double-edged sword to prevent overwhelming OPness.

A big part of my point revolves around making directly offensive damaging moves a special ability.
