    Default This is madness

Carthage attack my city Lilibaeum in sicillia.

I got there 2 full stack about 7 k ppl

They attack me from water about 10 k ppl

They go to land about 1/3 of thier units i defaet them... and... nothing happend..

Rest is just standing on water and do not disebmark on land...

Few can still go on land but not all to low number of places for boats...

How it`s ends after 2 hour i was very angry and i must end fight...

And pc show me i was defeated and lose my city...

    This is no sense...

I don`t want put a time in to battle beacuse it`s silly and sometimes u lose because lack of time nad slow killing of enemys units... And DEI we all know got low deadlieness.

Do smth with this beacuse i cannot play... i`m stuck because when i`m load carthage attack me again and again...

This is nothing DeI can fix, since battle maps are not modable.

But you could it fix easy by setting a battle timer, instead of playing without timer - which is risky due to buggy Rome2 AI. The timer will come to 0 and you will win the battle. Problem solved.

    Till shade is gone,
    till water is gone,
into the Shadow with the teeth bared,
screaming defiance with the last breath,
to spit into Sightblinder's eye on the Last Day

I just ran into the exact same problem last night. Take TheOrangeProject's advice and set your battle timer to 60 minutes.

this can be avoided by not engaging there navy and by disembarking your troop.

i have found that this will make them shift there attack choice, to land all troops with none just standing there.

I always use a timer now, for 60 minutes, cause in honesty if it takes longer than that something is probably wrong with pathfinding, ship has got stuck on another, not all the ships have landed or the AI does fails at trying to burn the gate and stand there.

    etc.

This is a common issue especially for mediterranean factions with ports... I had to quit a game back at DeI v5 or something. I was playing as Rome and most battles against Carthage was like what you describe. And the AI was refusing to land its armies and attack my cities by land. So after 10 or so stupid naval sieges I quit playing.

With current DeI 0.9 there are times where the AI will land its armies and attack by land. But what about the stupid naval sieges? There are only two things you can do (as far as i know):

    1) Use medium unit sizes. Ultra and big unit sizes cannot fit properly in the transport ships... and this makes them do weird things like disembarking but stay on the beach forever. Medium unit size fits in transports so no such problems.
    2) But even with medium unit size a very big enemy naval force cannot land because there are not enough landing "slots"... In that case the only thing you can do is use a battle timer as others have proposed already.

Army timer solves this. If by solves you mean allows you to sit there while it trundles along until the end.

I suggest reducing the battle time limit so that the wait isn't quite so ridiculous when this sort of thing happens.

Baddies get stuck... go get a sammich.
