Default Buying and selling food with edicts

There is a mod that has been mentioned before here which allows you to sell slaves in exchange for money using an edict.

DEI has really made slavery much better in the game (now there are incentives to enslave enemies) but being able to sell the slaves will make it even more profitable and turn enslaves into a valuable commodity instead of an annoyance like in vanilla. With this mod and the Ardiaei I will enslave so many people that Daenerys will probably spawn on the map and come for me. I think this mod should be absorbed and made a permanent part of DEI.

Anyway, I was thinking, couldn't we use edits to do the same with food? For ancient powers like Rome and Athens importing grain was an essential part of their economy as they weren't self sufficient. For other nations, like Egypt, exporting their surplus of food was a profitable business. I was thinking the player should have those same options. Some buildings, like latifundiums and ranches, could have an "export food" edict which reduces your food supply and increase your income. Other buildings, perhaps the forum baorium and the forum cupedinis, could have an "import food" edict which would increase your food supply and decrease your income. This will not only add immmersion and make the game more realistic but it will also improve the gameplay. Now there would be a use for your food surplus once you have enough to maximize your growth. If you need extra cash in the short term then you could sacrifice long term growth and sell your food surplus. If you build a couple of higher tier buildings and you suddenly run into a food deficit then its no big deal, you just buy the food like Athens or Rome did all the time. Its stupid to starve if you have lots of money to buy food. What do you think?

That is a brilliant idea. Often when there's a food shortage there's not really anything you can do about it. Paying for more food would make sense.

Great ideas, I think DEI should have its own set of edicts in a future update. Would add some nice gameplay aspects...

Yep, i am using a mod that adds several different edicts and balances them out, so if you have +10% income, you might have -2 order or something, would be awesome if DEI did have their own.

I've got the mod in the subforum for edicts. It would be awesome if we could have limitless edicts and I like this idea. The limit of 8 showing up (properly, at least) in the UI is the biggest restriction right now. This and the slaves edict could probably both be implemented if I dropped some of my tax/tribute edicts.
