    Default Town walls

Durazzo (Durres/Dyrrhachium) had enormous stone walls since Roman times, e.g. http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/KCsHWaZuYYs/0.jpg. In the past, from the distance they looked more like this.

Its M2TW inhabitants must have taken great pains to disassemble them and replace them with a wooden fence, after going off to the mountains to fetch some wood that could have been better used in building ships with.

Is there a submod anywhere that would give M2TW towns stone walls, at least in the south?

If not, would designating the core_building as stone_wall work? Alternatively, can anyone foresee any problems with designating Durazzo as a city rather than a town?

TBH i think most settlements are under developed compared to their historical counterparts, SSHIP kinda fixes this IIRC or was HURB or both can't remember right now...but for certain SSHIP work on the populations values brings them to a more realistic level

    Under developed is an understatement.

In SSHIP, we have used the real population values in 1132 AD for our settlements. However, our map is quite different to the original SS one.

The only way to change wooden walls to stone in game would be to edit them with the IWTE tool.

I would love to have the time to edit the walls but life is not ideal. The realistic options probably are:

    1. Redesignate some towns as cities
    2. Give towns the models of cities
    3. Give towns stone walls if in some other mod or submod they have stone walls and those models could be used in Stainless Steel.

All these options would be satisfactory enough, as long as there is no catch such as the game crashing because something is a city but has too low a population, or if there is a conflict with something in the EDB that is not possible for a settlement with stone walls.

    You don't need IWTE...

Just change the town and wall levels in descr_strat.

i meant he needed IWTE to be able to have huge city walls on a town for instance.

Increasing populations and making settlements more developed would be my choice

Currently only the last 3 levels of settlement development have stone walls. (Minor City, Large City and Huge City)

So fitting most settlements which historically had stone walls within these could do it...thus perhaps city development could be tweaked, making the upgrade from minor city to large city at least half as hard as currently is to get a huge city?

This could start by getting 1st a list of which settlements require this (i fear only few will be left out xD)

but for one I think Constantinople should start off as Huge City, others important urban centres of the time such as Baghdad, El Cairo, Jerusalem...etc, should be Large Cities...or maybe even Huge cities in some cases but with less development than Constantinople of course. And for last, the rest of walled settlements would be put as minor cities/stone castles.
