Default Questions about civil war and faction politics

    Hi,

Still trying to understand few things in DEI Rome 2:

    - I can choose a general people suite card for abilities bonuses. But when choosing for instance a guy giving a gravity bonus, is it applying for my own familly or only for the familly the general belongs to?

    - Before civil war, when an opponent familly general is upgrading, i can choose to boost his abilities via many different cards. I suppose when i'll fight him during civil war, he will keep all the bonuses i gave him...wouldn't it be wise to not boost him, but just boost our own familly generals?

    - When civil war happens, do i keep only my familly generals, or are they splitted randomly between all famillies?
Will each familly fight each other?
Will i keep control only the areas my generals are staying on, or are areas splitted randomly?

    - What is the familly generals supplying rate in DEI? Is it random or?
Cause i can wait quite long before a new general becomes avalaible for my familly...

Thanks in advance for your enlightning!

In Rome 2 civil war just spawns random generals. CA made it that way, not DeI team. All generals, even from other families, will still fight for you.

    Ah, ok! Good to know.
So we keep all our current active generals...it's also solving my second question by the way.
Remains the first one and last one

About the first, the bonus applies to the family of the general, so you'll get them a LOT of influence in no time. However, the team stated that civil war is avoidable if you can keep your power balance at around 50%, so it's all about managing your influence. Can't say anything about the last one though.

Actualy the power balance is completely irrelevant to the civil war triggering. Its all about the Imperium level. The power balance matters only for the political intrigue stuff, the faction with more power can do more actions, with higher probability of succes.

Are you sure? Because even with low influence, i still can do any political intrigue with success, if i have enough money of course...

I am sure it is true for the AI. The more power they got, the more politically active they get. About the war starting, hover with the mouse over the imperium bar and read
YouŽll notice it states the same regardles of powerbalance

Thanks for the reply. I was guessing it applies to the general's family too...but wasn't sure. It's easier for managing all different families gravitas.
So i'll try to never pass the 50%...unless i want to try a civil war

There are actually a few thresholds for civil war, but I can't quite remember all of them. Generally, you can trigger a civil war if your approval is either very low or very high; the thresholds are different if you're a republic (Rome, Carthage) or a monarchy (everyone else). If your approval is low, the civil war armies will spawn in your capital. If it's high, they'll spawn somewhere else (seems to be random, but I don't know).

Civil war is definitely avoidable though, as your imperium level also determines how likely a civil war is to start. It almost always happens only at the highest level of imperium, usually not before then.

Oh, and if you're playing a faction that isn't playable in the vanilla game (Armenia, Cimmeria, Pergamon, Cantabri, etc) then there is no civil war, as the DeI team has not created separate civil war factions for them.
