Default Runestone, Seat of House Royce

House Royce of Runestone, High Lords of the Bay of Crabs

    House Bio

The Royces are an old house in the vale. They predate Arryn rule and trace their blood to the days of the First Men, who once populated the Vale, although no doubt they have since been heavily intermarried with the Andals who conquered the Vale millenia ago. They have several sets of ancient bronze plate armor inscribed with runes that are thought to make their wearers immune to injury.[3] The truth of this claim has been called into question.
Lord Royce competed in the Tourney of Maidenpool where he was defeated by Ser Humfrey Hardyng.[4]
Lady Perra Royce was the first wife of Lord Walder Frey. It is not known of which branch she was from.[5] Lord Tywin Lannister offered Tyrion Lannister for marriage to one of Lord Yohn Royce's daughters, but was rejected.
Kyle Royce was a member of Brandon Stark's party when he went to King's Landing to demand Prince Rhaegar Targaryen's head for kidnapping his sister, Lyanna Stark. It is not known from which branch Kyle came.
When Lord Yohn went north with his son Ser Waymar to the Wall, they stopped at Winterfell. There they hunted and in the training yard, Yohn fought and defeated both Lord Eddard Stark and Ser Rodrik Cassel.

    Household

    Possessions: None

    Marital Status: Yes

Bio: Lord Edwyn Royce is the High Lord of the Bay of Crabs and ruler of the castle of Runestone. Like all Royces, he is a tall but lanky man who has discovered a natural procilivity for the sea. Lord Edwin loves to sail all over the place, spending months at a time sailing the waters around the Vale of Arryn. He is an intelligent man who is loyal to Lord Paramount.

    Ser Humphrey Royce

    Age: 25 (Born 251 AL)

Bio: Ser Humphrey Royce is the heir to Runestone and Marshal of the Royce military forces. Lke his father, Ser Humprey is a naturally tall man who is handsome as well. He is a capable enough warrior who can hold his own in battle but in recent years, the heir to House Royce has found himself leaning towards more of the role of being a commander of an army due to his father’s constant trips aboard his warfleet.

Eddard almost felt at home in the climate of the Vale, colder, loftier, winter had a hold here even in summer.

"My lord father bids you a warm greeting and congratulations for our mutual victory over the mad king." The formalities had to be spoken. "He would have come himself but he marches north as we speak with banners of our house, ensuring discipline." Eddard drew forth a parchment. "My father desires to establish commercial relations between Karhold and Runestone. At Karhold we have suffered through many long winters - and developed crafts to ease the bite of the frost. Eddard motioned to the skins he wore. "Perhaps not a fashion that would be accepted in the capitol, but they're warm."

"I have heard of about your magnificent Furs that you Northmen produce Master Karstark and they will be very useful when winter comes and I will be happy to accept your trade offer. I already have a trade agreement with Lord Manderly for your Furs but they are growing in popularirty here in the Vale and it never hurts to get my hnads on more Furs." said Lord Royce. "Now, is there anything else I can do for you?"

The request is granted and Morrigan Redwyne and his retinue are escorted into Runestone's keep where they are met by Lord Royce.

"Welcome to Runestone, members of House Redwyne. I must say that I'm surprised to see a group of Reachmen this far North of the Blackwater this soon after the war. What can I do for you?"

Morrigan elegantly bows, while her escort do a less elaborate bow. "Well, with the war over, my dear cousin and lady wishes to reform the network of trade the Arbor had with various ports and lords across the realm, although that is partially the reason we have come to the Vale. The other half is to seek out a willing source of the fine stone of the Vale to use in rebuilding sections of the Arbor ravaged by raiders during the war, in exchange for the wines of the Arbor or monetary payment.."

"I would be happy to send shipments of the Vale's stone to help rebuild the Arbor, Ser Morrigan, in exchange for your wine. The Arbor producest some of the world's finest wine and I am eager to get my hands on more of it." said Lord Royce.

Eddard bowed his head in deference. "I thank you for accepting." He rose as if to leave. "I regret I cannot stay longer, but if I ride swiftly I may be able to catch up with the hosts going home. Farewell, Lord Royce."

Morrigan takes a sip from her glass, then nods. "I believe so as well, my lord."

--The next day, the small group from the Arbor leave Runestone to return to Gulltown and then to the Arbor.

ooc : Thought I wouldn't waste your time anymore on rp for a rp trade route.

A single ship sets anchor off the coast one misty morning, the waters are still, a longboat rows out to shore and a single horseman leads a train of horses tethered in silver to ride for Runestone. His horse, much like the others is a proud and sleek black steed with a main of flowing ebony. The others, still young are yet equally gracious and full of the spirit of young life.
"I seek an audience with Lord Royce on matters of trade. I am from Dorne."

The Dornishmen is allowed into Runestone's courtyard where he was met by Lord Royce who was overseeing a renovation of Runeston'e barracks. When he noticed the Dornishmen arrive, he turned and said "Welcome to Runestone man of Dorne. Before we attend to business, who may you be might I ask?"

"My name is Othello, I am but a humble servant of the new prince- Rors Nymeros-Martell. I have come in his name to offer these our prize horses to you in sign of good faith and in the hope to establish trade relations between our two Houses."

One of the horses were brought before Lord Royce by one of his servants. He examined them a for a few short moments before he said "If this horse is any representation of all the Dornish horse then I must say that I am impressed and I would love to get my hands on more of these fantastic beasts. However sadly, all of Runestone's trade lanes are currently filled and it will take two more years before my markets and wharehouses can be expanded to accommodate more trade. If your master is willing to wait that long then will be happy to reserve my future trade lane for you."

Othello nods with theatrical gratitude. "My master, the Prince would be happy to wait until you are able to trade with Dorne. And we are very proud of our steeds, it warms our hearts to be honoured by the renowned and mighty Knights of the Vale. We would find great esteem in knowing the Knights of the Vale ride our stock." Othello took a step forward with bowed head and spoke in a lower voice. "My master also bids me inform you that the offer Lord Arryn made to him has met its time and he has in fact need of your master's presence at Sunspear or another place of mutual courtesy."

A raven arrives from the Eyrie; Lord Royce may now leave for the Capital and serve in the Small Council as Master of Laws, as arranged between him and Lord Arryn some time ago.
