Default The Army of the Vale, outside King's Landing

In the horizon appeared a large host, marching in good order. Banners high, they deployed the whole array of the Vale's heraldry. But above them all the stag and the falcon, the standards of Baratheon and Arryn.

Lord Jon rode at the head of the army, surrounded by his personal retainers, sworn swords and main vassals. He rose his visor to watch the scene deployed before his eyes, for the capital laid sacked and plundered and columns of dark smoke rose from inside the capital's red walls. The same turmoil could be glanced far away, in Aegon's hill.

"What the Seven Hells happened here? Who did...?"

"Sire, there are many troops around"

Ser Denys steeled-finger points the Westerlander host.

"Those banners... that cannot be true!"

    "Aye, they are"

    Answered Denys

    "Lions!"

    Exclaimed Vardys

    "Lannisters!"

    Muttered Jon.

"Sound the trumpets and announce our arrival. Let's find what happened here, I fear Justice have been robbed from us"

At last had Lord Lannister joined the rebels?

As the Arryn and Baratheon host approached the city's walls, one of the gates began to open as a group of Westerland soldiers filed out. After they were arrayed on either side of the path, Lord Lucion, escorted by his Sworn Sword, Ser Gregor, came out of the gate upon their horses. Lord Lannister's horse stepped just a few yards from the gate with Ser Gregor to his right.

Ser Elys Waywnood, Ser Morton Wanywood and Lady Anya stood to the side of Lord Paramount Jon, watching as the Westerlanders filed out. Grimacing they muttered amongst each other at the sight of the fallen city - this could end very badly.

    [OOC: Little retro-RPing!]

Raymar met Lucion at the gate, saying simply, "Chests are being hauled up and moved out of sight. Got dependable lads on it."

He joined the large group as they made their way out of the open gate, corpses of the defending force still strewn about. Before them stood an army of Valesmen, Arryn and other Vale banners being many in number, with the odd Baratheon banner showcasing their allegiance. They were greatly outnumbered by the Westermen, but not so many Westermen were under disciplined arms right now...

Raymar remained near the edge of the Westerman group, with perhaps two or three other horsemen separating Lord Lannister from himself. Clegane was visible on the other side of Lucion, his massive bulk protruding from behind Lucion's more slender person.

Lord Jon rode forward with his barded horse. An imposing and tall figure even if his elderly years Jon was even more towering (ooc: he is roughly 1,85-1,90 meters on my mind). Polished and thick armor that shone like silver. His helmet decorated with a shrieking falcon. Behind him rode Ser Denys Arryn (with the Baratheon banner and wearing his splendid armor and surcoat), Ser Vardys Egen (who carried the great Arryn banner), Lord Hardyng, Lord Corbray, Lady Waynwood, few other nobles and the Arryn's household guard.

Once near the Lannister he raises his visor. A stern, but amiable, face with bright blue eyes and formidable whiskers.

    "Lord Lannister, I presume?"

ooc: whoever knows the reference gets a cookie!

Lucion watches as a party of Valemen nobles approach where his position was. He snaps the reins of his horse and moves further from the gate with Ser Gregor following suit. A mounted banner-carrier follows Lucion on the left. Lord Lannister comes to a halt just as the Valemen arrive. He stares at them for awhile before his gaze turns to the visor that revealed to be Lord Jon Arryn. Lucion nods his head.

    I am he, Lord Arryn.

Jon's sharp eyes look into Lannister's.

"Lord Lucion Lannister, where is the tyrant? What happened here?"

He gestures towards the city, the smoke and the destruction.

Lucion looks back at the city, then turns his gaze to Lord Arryn.

What happened here...was the doing of my forces. We tricked the guards into thinking we were to serve at the behest of Aerys II. Once the gates were opened, my troops swarmed in, taking down the City Watch and those who opposed us.

He pulls on the reins of his horse which had begun to shift ever so slightly.

As for tyrant, Lord Arryn, we arrived to find the throne room containing two persons; an alchemist and...the body of Aerys II. Only one other person was in there, my son, Ormond of the Kingsguard. From what I saw and other rumors, he prevented these two people from burning down the whole city with wildfire.

    Jon frowned.

There goes my hopes to avoid a bloodshed and bring the King to Justice...

"The King, dead? And the capital sacked? You marched swiftly from Casterly Rock, my Lord Lannister. He should have been brought to justice, my Lord Luceon, he murdered my kin and now I have lost the chance to see him chained. But his sins have now being payed with his blood. Even more if he tried to burn the whole city, Seven Hells!"

A Kingsguard murdering the King? Those Lions have no honor? Still he saved the city... He could have incapacitated the King, however.

His stallion paws the floor, noticing his Lord's nervousness and anger.

"Well, my Lord, what about the Royal Family?"

Lord Arryn, whether my son had killed the tyrant or not, if the wildfire had gone off, you would not have the justice you desired. The King, as it appears, was unwilling to be taken alive by your hands...so he was willing to take the city with him. You would have had to pick his ashes from the ruins of the capital. I doubt the your fellow colleagues would be happy to find the capital in ruins.

Lord Lucion listens to the final question. He remembered seeing the bodies being brought down from the higher levels of the Red Keep.

All of the royal family is dead, Lord Arryn. Save one, the King's second son, Viserys Targaryen, whose body was not found, alive or dead. Rhaelle Targaryen and Elia Martell were found dead by my soldiers. And the children of Rhaegar were found dead as well. Only Viserys is unaccounted for.

(OOC: Replacements were found for them, but they hadn't been rped yet since the Last Wishes rp is taking awhile to do.)

"I didn't want ashes, Lord Lannister, I just wanted a throne for my foster son to sit on"

A pulsating vein appears on Jon's forehead:

"The children? Rhaenys and Aegon? Princess Elia? The Queen? My Lord Lannister they weren't guilty of the King's madness! The children should have kept alive, Robert cannot step on the corpses of children to rule..."

Oh dear Father, the children too... what have those beast done? At least a prince survived. I wanted to dethrone the mad man and crown a upright Lord, grandson of Rhaella, as King. Now everything has been thwarted and twisted. Robert will have his hands stained by innocents' blood.

He looks troubled. Vardys looks him worried. Denys bears a half-smile.

"I hope at least they weren't mercilessly slaughtered and that the bodies are kept to receive proper burial..."

He waves his hand, like wiping his thoughts...

"We will discuss those matters another time, Lord Lannister, now I must act in my foster son's name and behalf, no time for regret. I'll mourn the dead later, be the children or my nephew. War has to end as soon as possible"

What will Dorne do now that their Princess is very well dead? butchered like a pig I presume, even if Lannister tells they were strangled.

    He removes his helmet

"So be it, the Dragon is killed, I want the throne for my son, led me to Keep, Lord Luceon, if you wish"

I will say that I saw the bodies myself. They have been retrieved from the upper floors and were being moved to the throne room for display. The corpses will be dressed and properly cleaned.

Lucion then looks at Lord Arryn. His hands firmly on the reins of his horse.

With a host so massive, would you have been able to contain them if you were in my place? Anything could happen, that includes the deaths of the Royal Family. Soldiers are hard to contain once greed takes over. And as the late King, Jaehaerys II said, "madness and greatness were two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land." With how mad Aerys II was, I doubt you nor anyone else would want that chance to happen again.

And with that, Lord Lannister pulls on the reins of his horse and has his party escort the Lord Arryn and his own retinue into the city and towards the Red Keep.

Lord Jon heard with a hint of disgust:

"They will be interred with their ancestors at Baelor's Sept, that I hope has been properly preserved from damage, Gods abode wouldn't like it"

Jon grabs his reins and starts riding next to Lannister, followed by his retinue:

"You know, I met and knew Jaehaerys himself, as I met his father, and elder brother. Summerhall's tragedy destroyed the realm's future, and the marriage of Aerys and Rhaella pushed the realm towards tragedy, the defiance of Duskendale was the doom for us all"

Jon's mind wandered through his memories, reminding scenes of his past.

"I wouldn't take a risk, but I didn't wish Robert's hand be stained by children's blood. A new dynasty starts, my Lord Lannister, a new reign that will bring utmost glory to the Seven Kingdoms"

They slowly approach the Keep's gates.

Lorch stood beside his Lord Lannister. His Golden eyes flickering too and frow, if it came to a fight the Westermen would surly win, that knowledge gave him comfort. He licked his lips anxiously as the High Lords spoke, there'd been so much blood that night - a fortnight had passed and the taste was still fresh upon his lips. He could see it in Arryn's eyes - judging eyes - he thought them all monsters..and for a brief moment Ser Lorch could agree with that assessment.
