    Default Marcus Aurelius Meditations

    Been reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and to me it reveals Marcus to be not just a great emperor, but a good, fundamentally decent human beings. Thoughts on the book? I see elements of Buddhist, Gnostic, Nietzschean and even Classical Liberal thought in it.
    If I had to choose between betraying my friends and betraying my country, I hope I would have the guts to betray my country.

    I am curious what you mean by finding thoughts from all of those things you have listed, to be within Meditations by some degree. What are they if not incomplete systems, as that seems to imply?
