It was a haggard group which appeared at the entrance to Ironoaks. The Caron sigil flew the highest, flanked by the Dondarrion lightning bolt and Swann swans.

"I am Ser Marq Estermont! This is Ser Willem Swann, and Daenys Caron!"

The column was comprised of twenty bloodied stormlanders. Some were more weary than the rest, having come all the way from Nightsong.

"With the war is over! We come to bring trade between those who overthrew the tyrant!"

The gates swing open and they are led through a series of passages to the main throne room. A young woman, stunningly beautiful, sits in the old wooden chair, casually flitting with her hair. A younger man, roughly nineteen years, also stands at her side - dressed in armour.

Greetings! What brings you to the hall of my mother? What can we do to help you valiant Stormlanders?

"We would see to it that our two houses, loyalists in every sense of the word, grew strong together. We would provide you with the fine steel of the Stormlanders, tested true against Reachmen and Dornish invaders. In exchange, the stone of the Vale would ensure that our keeps remain defiant in the name of our King."

    The group bowed shallowly.

Amongst the first to wind home from the wars, Lord Hardyng entered through the Gate and watched as so many banners went north and east. It would be a hard road through the Mountains of the Moon to the Scorched Vale on the far side of the Eyrie. All this fighting, it reminded him how lonely he was, and how close death came. What would he have left? He the grandson of Humfrey the champion of Maidenpool Tourney. He had a long time to think.
Riding slowly through the hill roads and valleys, there were soldiers walking and horsemen all over, like leaves in autumn blown by a tired breeze. Rounding the monolith that was the Eyrie, he passed north east and weary found himself one rainy night by Ironoaks mighty portcullis. He presented himself as Lord Hardyng to the sentries, bid them a good evening, soldier to soldier and asked if he might find shelter in the courtyard from the rain for the night.

As soon as the words are spoken, Daenys Caron, bearing the thick Nightingale banner, leaped forward to Marq's side, hissing in to his ear. At the boy's words, Marq paled.

"My apologies, my lord. We were not meant to trouble you."

And with that, the group hurried off.
