that fact that someone said it loads Photoshop in less than 10 seconds, when it takes over a minute for me, makes me smile![]()
Mine takes about 20, depending on what else I have running.Originally Posted by communisto

wow, it comes with a 250GB HDD too. Socket 939 may not be the latest, but it is still good. That, that is a GOOD price.
Pity there is no such deal in Australia....I'd upgrade tomorrow if there were.
Yep... that's the CPU I'm running in my box. It's smokin' fast!![]()
Actually, its not a terribily good deal considering that the equivalent Core 2 costs about the same. AMD must be feeling the heat now that thier $800 babies are getting smoked by Intels $350 ones.

Adobe Photoshop loads in less than 7 seconds for me and XP loads in less than 15 seconds. Almost makes me wanna buy another computer with that price.

Most of the processors on the market are overkill right now anyways. The FX-55 (I believe that is the one linked, I forgot now) Will still run any current game more than easily, that is why It is fairly popular... remember, your getting and HDD, and as of last time I checked, a mobo too, or as an option. Not a bad deal, imho.
Especially for Socket 939 people, such as myself.... but, I got the X2 4800... so I see no need to buy that

But it's not the deal of your life either.
I agree with Eric, even though its still overkill, you can get even more overkill with dual core (is the FX-55 dual core?) in the form of an E6400 for that price.

Don't let the word "FX" fool you, the equal priced E6300 is still a much buy if your getting a new computer.

Desktop PC: Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.8 Ghz | Swiftech Apogee GT waterblock + MCP655 + 2 x 120mm rad | Biostar Tforce 965PT | G.Skill 4gb (2 x 2gb) DDR2-800 | Radeon HD 4870 512mb | 250GB + 160GB hard drive | Antec 900 | 22" Widescreen
The thing that kills me is the FX-60 and FX-62 are STILL priced at over $500.00 and $600.00 respectively! Sheesh AMD, look at your competition's product and pricing, you ain't the only game in town anymore! Wake up, and drop the pricing of those two about another $200.00 or so and maybe you'll sell a couple of 'em! The FX-55 plus a great HD for $199.00 is still a pretty good deal though.....

I've gote a 939 mobo and my 250 GB ext hd just went so that deal looks pretty nice to me. I'll definitley think about it.
Yes, it would be a nice upgrade from your 3200+.

I've got S939 and can't afford/see no very strong reason to upgrade yet (although I've considered the idea). It would mean having to buy new mobo and new RAM, as well as the new CPU.
Instead, I've figured I'd do better to run the fastest chip for 939, which is the FX-57. I'm looking to get one of those and I bet the price has plummeted by mid-Jan next year.
AMD definitely need to wake up and realise they can't justify the high prices of these things anymore. The only thing stopping loads of people rushing out to buy a Conroe is the need to upgrade other hardware as well.
If only a mobo could run any chip you stuck in it....
If you have got a skt939 mobo you wont need to upgrade at all, and I think the FX-55 only uses DDR RAM.Originally Posted by Germanicus91

Hi Shaun, by upgrade I mean buy mobo and RAM to suit a Conroe. I have all the hardware to support a S939 chip already. So I'd just need to buy the chip...That's why it makes financial sense for me to squeeze all I can out of my S939 setup.
Are you sure though the FX-57 only runs with DDR2 RAM??? I'll have to check that...
Wh-wh-what? I was talking about the FX-55 and I said it only supports DDR RAM, not DDR2.Originally Posted by Germanicus91
