Game constantly crashing

Hey guys,I have DEI installed on my computer and I can't even finish a battle without crashing,I'm pretty sure it's not my comp because I can play other games just fine without crashing for hours.It wasn't like this before :/.My Rome 2 says(update12 beta) and I installed the update that enables me to play it. Am I missing something?Thank you in advance.

I've got the "Rome 2 (update 12 beta)" in my steam library as well, even though I've got 13.1, I haven't experienced any crashing though, you have any other mods?

Recently having the same issue with crashes. It's generally after a battle's finished. I have the naval overhaul mod that's compatible with DEI as an additional mod though.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this.

In general: installing and deleting mods can always lead to problems. Especially because some mods - i dont know if this for DeI the case - override some things. And if you delete those mods then, it can kill your game. I dont know how vunerable rome2 is for those things, but in other games (skyrim for example) this will lead to a quick death of your savegame or even of the whole game.

So my first suggestion would be: Game cache varify. If this doenst work, driver update - from video to audio. Still not working? Try reinstall, i know it is a pain but yeah.

And i recommend not using the steam version. Steam is not as mod friendly as one may think. The standalone version is more stable and less affected by some problems (several people reported that).

Okay, so verified the cache. Turns out I had a few files missing and my newly bought DLC seems to have not downloaded properly.

So I decided to play as Syracuse, new campaign, fresh start etc. It was going well until I ended a turn and then it froze for about five seconds before promptly giving me the message "Rome II has stopped working".


The only mods I have are 'The Naval mod' and English names that replace the latin ones that DEI comes with.

I'm a little stumped at the moment. It's not my rig as it's newly bought, only a couple months old and the parts are high end. So I'm starting to think it's something with DEI itself.

(About the pc...well dont mean to offend you or so, but i worked for 3 months as service technican for a middle-big hd/mp3/tv company. Many people saying everything is fine with their rig or hd )

Do you use beta drivers for your graphic card? if so, switch to non beta drivers, or try switching back to a older version. I had never any issue with beta drivers, but sometimes the devil is a squirrel.

Did you try it without using any mods at all? Vanilla rome.

What mod-translation for DeI do you actually use? There are at least two. MuppetMan -one author of a used translation - is not using DeI currently, but he (thx again man) was nice enough to update it for 0.9. Still we can't expect full support if any problem occurs (which is totaly reasonable).

Btw, what DeI do you actually using? Early release of 0.9 had some crashes in. 0.9h should not having those issues.

Hey thanks for the reply, apologies for the second thread. I became a bit desperate. (Need my fix, haha.)

My GPU isn't using beta drivers, and is up to date with Nvidia's current update for my card (GTX 770). As for the additional mods I'm using they are "Faction + Unit Names restored [English]" by Mavrik347, " Naval Overhaul for Divide et Impera (AAW based)" by andrewdrakelive, and "Sell Your Slaves" by Phalangitis (Via Steam workshop). The former two mods I obtained via twcenter.net
I am currently using the latest version of DEI, updated as of 20/06/14.

I shall try a vanilla run through and see how that goes though, as I've not tried that.

^ Turn off (Remove) Sell your slaves (I think thats why it crashes) and try DeI mod again if it still crashes do the same with the other mods, And always check of they are compatable with the newest version of DeI if it are sub-mods.

Yeah will try that now. I started a completely vanilla game, and got about 50 turns in. No crashes.

So now to find the conflict with DEI.

I think SirPee got the right advice for you with the slave mod. I hope your game will be fixed soon!

Fun Fact about Drivers:
Beta-Catalyst-Treibern 14.1 caused many crashes for tons of people in some games, due to the fact that the driver messed up the cooling system of the card.

There were even cases in which (nvida) the whole card got killed by flawed drivers. Was 1 or 2 years ago.

Hey everyone!

So I booted up Rome II again. It went more smoothly without the "Sell Your Slaves" mod, got about 25 turns in...then it crashed. >

For some reason it's ALWAYS after a battle has been had in that turn, then as the turn ends it simply stops and crashes to desktop. I was only using the two mods that I listed above.

So, I don't really know now.

Edit: I was playing as Syracuse again, just like my last campaign that had crashed.

Getting the same thing now. I don't think its an incompatible mod (it only started doing this yesterday), but the game seemingly crashes on an a AI turn (usually an eastern/Hellenistic faction like the Seleucids and Pontus). I've tried a different save, but that doesn't seem to work.

Got the same problem sinds 13.1 i get a crash in the AI turns. Playing as rome around turn 30. Checkt all mods still happening.

Seems there's a problem with DEI, perhaps patch 13.1 did something very minor that's having a major effect to DEI.

Hm, you could try to do things differently before ending the turn. Like not fighting the battle, or doing some agreements, something to change the history.

Besides that im am clueless, i dont have any crashes during my currently play with rome and i am around turn 50 or so with DeI and patch 13.1.

That's strange. I never got any crash during AI turn, even after 150 turn playing Romans.
In fact never got AI turn crash ever, with latest DEI and latest patch. But have to say i never installed other mod than DEI.

On side note, i only experienced few random crash (fortunately rarely) but not DEI related (nvwgf stuff via even viewer)
So it is something to do with Nvidia pilots, but mine are up to date...
It happened during battle, but also on campaign map (never during AI turn)
