    Default The Siege of Blackhaven

OOC: I have asked Hengest if he is happy with me assuming control of the host here with Richard's absence.
    Dornish Host:
    1,139 Heavy Infantry
    7,908 Light Infantry
    1,546 Polearm Infantry
    4,242 Archers
    6,361 Light Cav
    386 Heavy Cav

    Reachmen Host:
    1000 Heavy Infantry
    2189 Light Infantry
    1875 Polearm Infantry
    2209 Archers
    1142 Light Cavalry
    436 Heavy Cavalry
    65 Sworn Swords

    TOTAL MEN: 30,498
    2,139 Heavy Infantry
    10,097 Light Infantry
    3421 Polearm Infantry
    6451 Archers
    7503 Light Cavalry
    822 Heavy Cavalry
    65 Sworn Swords

A surrender roll is requested (they are almost at the point of surrender).

    Garrison:
    WIP

    IC:
The Reach banners intermingled with those of the Dornish like a whirlwind. For several hours, there was chaos as the two royalist hosts greeted each other with open arms. Once they settled, the mood may change, but at that point, they were long-lost brothers.

With Ser Arslan at his heels, Lord Garlan sought out Lord Yronwood. Once he found the powerful Dornish Lord, Garlan showed him a letter, supposedly signed by the Prince himself.

"Storm's End is where we are going," Lord Rowan told his former equal. "We will clean up this siege and save the realm from this usurper's rebellion."

    25 Heavy Cavalry

    Total: 575 men

    =====================================

    Surrender Roll:

    Basic Roll: 5/20
Modifiers: +10 (outnumbered by at least 1 50 men)

Rolled a 15, the garrison of Blackhaven surrenders.

Sorry to backtrack this but these forces are present in addition to the aforementioned garrison.
    487 Heavy Infantry
    1218 Light Infantry
    650 Polearms
    731 Archers
    487 Light Cavalry
    162 Heavy Cavalry

    +

    75 Heavy Infantry
    188 Light Infantry
    100 Polearm Infantry
    112 Archers
    75 Light Cavalry
    25 Heavy Cavalry

I'd also like the roll to reflect the extra strength of the castle and its purpose, if that's at all possible.

Whoops, my apologies. I will be happy to reroll.

    It's now 30,000 men versus 4,310 men.

    Surrender Roll:

    Basic Roll: 5/20
Modifiers: +3 (Only outnumbered by 7 to 1, not that impressive with the defenses of Nightsong).
Final Roll: 8/20 chance of surrender.

Rolled a 12. Blackhaven refuses to surrender.

Orders please since this will be a proper siege.

A raven arrives at Blackhaven, with the seal of House Tyrell.

    To Lord Garlan Rowan.

The Reach is in need of you and your men, so return home as soon as possible. Meet me at Ashford.

    Ser Hubard Tyrell,
    Lord Marshal of Highgarden.

Garlan crumples up the letter with a frustrated sigh.

"Lord Tyrell wants us to return to the reach," Garlan told Ser Arslan and Lord Yronwood.

He couldn't return now, could he? His son was still ravaging the Stormlands, without support. The Dornish army was besieging Storms End and needed every man if they intended to take Lord Robert's seat.

"The other Reachmen have taken too long to enter the fighting," Lord Rowan pointed out to the gathered lords.

Great Dornishmen stood shoulder to shoulder with lesser reachmen lords without complaint. It was a strange sight to see, but one which have him hope. They were thirty thousand strong. Once Blackhaven eas theirs, then the route back to Yronwood would be kept open, and from there easy access to the reach, if Nightsong were to fall.

"I will not entertain the High Lords of Highgarden," Garlan decided before the assembled host. "We have come too far, sacrificed too much to just leave now. Ser Arslan, if you will leave, I will not stop you. But the rest of you, you will remain with me. We march to support your brothers. Storms End will fall beneath the sight if the golden tree and black gates!"

The nobles let out a brief cheer, excited by the prospects of victory. As they did so, the archers lined up for the assault strung their bows, calling out that there was activity coming from Blackhaven.

Edit: the castle surrenders anyway now? Doesn't it? The Yronwood host has been there over a week? If not, then:
    Archers fire on wall
    Light infantry scale the walls
Heavy infantry lead the pole arms at the gate.
