    Default Raid of Wickenden

While the guards patrolled the streets of Wickenden like any other night, several cogs with black sails were closing in on the shore, filled with men armed to the teeth. While many had chosen to cover themselves with dark cloaks, one could a closer look see the sigils of the houses from the narrow sea: Celtigar, Sunglass, Rambton and Velaryon, and their dark cloaks carry the red three-headed dragon of House Targaryen. Once the cogs have reached the shore, the soldiers jump off and quickly spread out, creating a bridgehead for their comrades. Though mostly infantry armed with swords, spears, polearms, bows and cross, hundreds of mounted knights get off. Leading them is the Master of Ships, Lord Vhaeron Velaryon. When the men have safely landed, he orders the advance on Wickenden's farms. Though too weak to take the castle, the villages around are rich from the candlemaking business.

When Lord Velaryon heard the bells ring around Wickenden, fear gripped his heart. He had only a token force and they would easily be destroyed by a larger force. However, only small groups of peasants met them that were cut down before any of them could flee and alarm any larger force in the area. His men spread to the nearby villages and burned, raped and looted to their hearts' content. Lord Velaryon rode with his guard between the towns, seeing to that all the treasures found were taken back to the ships and scouting for any potential foes trying to ambush them. No one came though, and the raids continued.

Come morning, the Master of Ships and his captains had gathered in the town hall closest to their landing spot, discussing their strategy. The opinions were many and loudly spoken. The Vale fleet had not been at Gulltown, like they had expected, and not at Wickenden, another candidate. The royal fleet had not encountered the rebels on the way between, so there was no telling if their target was in the Bay of Crabs, in the North or had sneaked by them and were now blockading Blackwater Bay and King's Landing itself. No word had reached them of the latter and Lord Vhaeron suspected that the Reach fleet had sailed around southern Westeros by now, so there was no need to return home just yet. That left two options: search the Bay of Crabs, potentially getting trapped inside, or turn north to the major ports in the northern Vale and White Harbor, which could mean they would lose an enemy they had already trapped but not discovered. After an hour of rabid debates, threats, and drawn steel, Lord Vhaeron Velaryon slammed his head in the table and told his captains his decision: wars were never one without taking risks, especially if their foe could be right at their doorstep. Once their men were ready and onboard the ships again, they would sail farther into the Bay of Crabs in search of the Vale fleet. The captains bowed and the stern Vhaeron smiled. Now would be his chance for glory and riches. The Vale had some rich regions, ripe for looting. The gods knew how much Driftmark was in need of gold.

Lord Vhaeron stood on some cliffs, looking over his vast fleet. A thousand ships had answered his call, so far he had lost none. He wondered though if he was walking the right path. The king was mad, that could not be denied. He had burned those lords and knights in one of his frequent cases of madness and paranoia. How could any man of honor serve a madman? No, he told himself. I do not serve Aerys, House Driftmark serves a legacy: the blood of old Valyria, the Iron Throne... and Prince Rhaegar, Vhaeron realized. The Prince of Dragonstone was the king Aerys could never be: a true knight, intelligent as a maester, without the taint of the blood of the dragon. Rhaegar should sit the Iron Throne and rule the realm. Lord Vhaeron Velaryon thought that when the war was won, he would urge Prince Rhaegar to cast down his father from the throne, with a thousand ships supporting him outside the Red Keep. The old Master of Ships looked out over the sea and prayed to the Seven or guidance, strength and wisdom.

A raven arrives from the Crownlands bearing the seal of the Crown Prince, Rhaegar Targaryen.

    My Lord Vhaeron Velaryon,

My scouts have brought two shocking reports. A grand host of some 50,000 strong gather at Darry while another host invades the Crackclaw Points. With such threats approaching King's Landing, I am forced to call up the reserves assigned to you from Dragonstone in order to bolster the royal forces that will safeguard the northern approach while an army goes East to destroy the rebels that encroach upon Crackclaw Point. May the Seven be with you and may the winds favor you.

    Signed,
Rhaegar Targaryen, Crown Prince of the Iron Throne
