Default Are there female warriors in the Scythian units?

I've no idea whether they're even supported in M2TW, but do the Scythian units have female warriors in them? We know that amongst the nomadic Scythians/those originating from the Scythians men and women both fought, which excited lots of comment from Greek observers. In an ideal world, I'd expect to see men and women in Scythian horse-archer units, for example.

But is this even possible? Was it a goal of the team to include them?

I'm guessing even if you could get some of the sprites to be women, you can't make Family Members (as in the leaders, rather than daughters to marry off) female?

Oh, you'd love to see a naked Saka bird in a fast Ferrari chariot, wouldn't you? Now, that would be exciting for an observer, eh?

    Um, no.

Given that about 20% of Scythian grave-finds are women, and they represent lords and commanders, we should expect a significant minority of warriors from those cultures to be women as well. Herodotus' "Amazons" wasn't a complete fiction with no basis in fact.

    I know that. I'm joking.

Male computer games enthusiasts like to see sexy women in games, but when there's an actual and historical basis to include some attractive young women with nice breasts swinging a weapon in a game, oh boy, that's tasty! So, this thread and your other thread, on nakedness in EB2, is like 2 + 2 = 4.

Ah, I see how you could have read the two together.

For absolute clarity, this wasn't a subtle, two-stage attempt to get some female nudity into EB2. They're two separate things, I think some male nudity might be called for, and in an unrelated topic, there should be female horse archers.

I believe those ladies didn't wear particularly revealing clothes, and their favorite garments were pants and long-sleeved tunics/shirts.

only in one region 20% of scythian grave finds are for women and we can not be really sure if they were really warriors. In other scythian regions very few female grave finds were found.Women were never commanders or rulers among scythians this is a modern myth. Scythians had an very small population and sometimes women were need for war but i dont think that more than 1% of their warriors were female.Sarmatians had more female warriors but they were still a very small minority.

I never will understand why so many people are obsessed with female warriors

Very well said, for that reason at most you'll see 1 out 5 soldiers in a unit(only some for units) to be a women.
But we will not feature women only units or officers.

very nice this sounds quite logical and histoical accurate
only for Sauromatae (sarmatians) or will the Saka Rauka units also have some female soldiers?
Sarmatians and western scythians had surely some female warriors but i am not sure about Saka Rauka .Indian and greek sources not mentioned female warriors among them

Great suggestion and a great idea! Historically correct and also rather cool! Female Generals, now that would be awesome!

I think that by focusing the conversation on Amazon warriors we are ignoring some very basic facts about nomadic steppe societies. They were well....nomadic so they never stayed in any abode for a long period of time, therefore it was just as important for the women to learn to ride as it was for the men. In a society with tents, children, etc. to care for, I doubt if female Scytho-Sarmatians would have really participated on raids/attacks on neighboring people in large numbers. More than likely, a predominately female force would have been left behind to defend the camps in times of crisis. The notion of an Amazon warrior riding across the Pontic steppe is romantic, but the reality is probably quite different.
