Whats the point of Rhodian slingers?

Playing as Epirus I recently formed the hellenic legue with Crete, and then Rhodos. With delight I see that I can begin training Rhodian slingers from the start. Then I look at their stats and it tuns out that they cost more then regular slingers, but have 15 ranged damage and no armor peircing, So what is their point? A buff for the Rhodian slingers please...

Do the Rhodian slingers excell in some way that I am unaware of, I want to use them to form my hellenic league with soldeirs fomr all around the league, but if they have almost the same stats as regular slingers but cost more I see no reason to use them...

Last time I checked they had a much higher rate of fire than regular slingers.

Balearic ones also have just 2 attack and 1 rpm more than regular iberians.

Faster rate of fire only means that they'll be out of ammo (which is absurd for sling unit as they can just grab rocks from the ground in this case...) in less than three minutes.

It also means they'll likely come out on top in a duel against other slingers.

From my experience with Carthage using balearic slingers: those guys are freaking machine guns. They can wipe out skirmishers and low armored units in seconds (not kidding, it happened to me more than once). Heck, I even played battles in which they fired from the FRONT and racked up 40+ kills... My point being, they are efficient tools, it's all about getting them to the right targets in the right situations and with the right tactics so they play their role well ;D

They have 3 times the accuracy of regular greek slingers (for a total of 15), and a slight increase in rate of fire:

As for balearic vs regular iberian slingers, the regular have a an accuracy of 10, the balearic of 20.

So elite slingers excell in taking out lightly armoured targets. Thx for the heads up...

Jupp. My roman legions are all with slingers, later the balearic and rhodian ones. Against early barbarians these guys rock. And if you can get them in the flank or back of the enemy...bye bye...
