    1056 H. cavalry

    Total: 24,235 men

Early at dawn, the Stormlord's host arrived some miles away from the castle of Grassy Vale, seat of House Blueburn.
Robert gave his host the orders to stop and to regroup into battle formations, as they were finally in reach of preparing the battle. This keep would be easy to take with only a small ammount of siege equipment and be a good start of strengthening the morale of the men for the upcoming battles. But even more lucrative at the moment seemed for Robert the gold inside the vaults of the High Lord and the surrounding lands and the noble hostages he might be able to take. From Lord Jon he had already learnt in the Vale about how effective hostages can be after Lyanna was kidnapped. And those, who follow her kidnapper shall learn to feel the same feelings and fears, I have to experience every new day, every new night.
    He took a deep breath.
    Lyanna.
    For you I do this.
    Here it will start.

He then turned around towards his cousin Lord Andrew Estermont.
    "We prepare for the attack"
, he only said, "The Reach shall know that it was a bad decision to side with the Tyrant."

    OOC:
If I forgot any Stormlords, who decided to march with me and would like to be in a commanding position, feel free to tell me. A commander on the third flank is always well seen.

    Lord Andrew Estermont, Grassy Vale

The Lord of Estermont was dressed in full plate armour, shining and new, his helm was upon his head with three green plumes above and his swordbelt was engraved with gold markings. His stallion, "Fury", was blood red and bloodthirsty but well bred managing to keep his calm as was expected. Behind him now stood a great army of the Stormlords, thousands strong, bright banners flying on the wind not few of them his own Green Turtle. The young lord took a second to admire the sight, besides him were his fifty Household guards and a few companions, "Thin" Hal wore only a halfhelm exposing his mean and scarred face. Ser Orys Storm bore his banner, bulky and with his fearsome warhammer slung across his back, besides him was Ser Renly Todbury, black hair flying on the wind and helm on his hand, Andrew's best friend, he was grim and serious as opposed to his joking manners. There also was his squire, Petyr Todbury, the boy was facing his first real battle with courage and seemed as seasoned as any men and Andrew's twin cousins, Sers Joffrey and Jacaerys looked even more alike when wearing armour. Of his brother Stannis and his companion Ser Herbert Mertyn he saw no sight Probably skulking about.

The High Lord of Cape Wrath answered his cousin with a grin "A lesson they will learn the bloody way!" His Lord cousin Robert looked Kingly enough on the eve of the battle, Perhaps he will be King after this is done." Andrew signaled to Hal, who blew a warhorn, soon many others answered across the army Now it begins. Lord Andrew smiled and pulled down his visor.
"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."

    Orders:
Holding back the cavalry, Lord Robert aims to take the gates of the keep with the help of the full infantry forces. Polearms cover the ground in case of the enemy trying to break through the gate with cavalry forces. Archers keep firing upon the wall, giving the infantry the opportunity to climb up the ladders, but will move upon the wall, when the gates are taken and the attackers have the high ground upon the defenders.
Left and right flank will do similiar, I guess, depends on Estermont's decisions.

Robert Baratheon fights in first rank among his heavy infantry.

Stannis Estermont will command the left flank:
    +1 Joust
    +2 Duels
    +3 Survival

Orders for both flanks: The archers will shower the defenders with an arrow storm, after that the light infantry will scale the walls meanwhile the heavy infantry will bring rams to the gate and force it down. Polearms are to remain in reserve with the Cavalry, who will charge in once the gate is down. Both Estermonts will lead the Cavalry.

    Also the defenders:
    28 Heavy Infantry
    69 Light Infantry
    39 Polearms
    42 Archers
    28 Light Cavalry
    10 Heavy Cavalry
    Total: 214

OOC: By the way we should add my 50 men at arms to that mix.

OOC: Already did. They fight at the left flank, since they are your bannermen.

    Grassy Vale Garrison:

    28 H. Infantry
    69 L. Infantry
    37 Polearms
    41 archers
    28 L. cavalry
    9 H. cavalry

    211 men total

Do you want a surrender roll first? Otherwise, I will roll the battle (It will be over by first archer phase, you outnumber them 100 to 1).

OOC: I guess I might try a surrender roll first, yes

    Surrender Roll:

    Basic Roll: 5/20
Modifiers: +13 (I gave a little more to the modifier since they are outnumbered by a factor of 100)
    Final Roll: 18/20

Rolled a 3, the defenders fo the Grassy Vale castle have surrendered due to overwhelming numbers.

When Robert heard the call of surrender upon the garrison of Grassy Vale, he was slightly disappointed, as he looked forward the battle. On the other hand, time was short and his mission was at least to gain during the rebellion as well more support for his cause. He decided to march with a slightly impressive number of men inside the keep, along with Lord Estermont while asking for a meeting with the commander of the enemy's forces. He would now at least get the chance to plunder the vaults of Lord Blueburn and as well take hostages.

OOC: Need rolls for both hostages and the loot which I get after taking the keep.

Also, am I allowed to imprison the men of the keep or can I recruit them for my levies? What would be the rules, if I leave them at the castle, when I leave with my host?

Hostage Roll: Straight up 10/20 chance of finding a hostage with no modifiers. (If no hostages are found, it is assumed that they left for another castle.)

Rolled a 13, no hostages are found.

Loot Roll: It's just 20% of the castles income which is 20% of 30,000, meaning 6,000 dragons are looted.

Last Question: You can only imprison them and not recruit them directly in your army. If you leave them with a garrison and not imprison them, then they will simply disperse.

OOC: Okay, guess I leave a garrison of the same size there, as I assume disperse simply means that they won't join the Reach's host.

A rider finds Robert Baratheon, he carries a letter from Lord Stark.

    "Robert,

We've arrived in the Riverlands and linked with Tully and Arryn forces, finding no great enemy foes in our path. I strike at King's Landing with all my might and bid the rest to follow. I urge you to march north with all haste and join us before the gates of King's Landing where we will crush the Mad King once and for all.

With the conquest of Grassy Vale, Robert Baratheon was more than glad to show a first success to his host - so he decided to celebrate the unforseen victory without any losses before marching at the morning against the Tyrell's forces upon the battlefield.
When night fell over the camp, he decided to invite his cousin from House Estermont as well to the small banquet, he had organized with a few lords and knights, who were in the mood for drinking as well.

    Lord Andrew Estermont

Lord Andrew arrived later that night with his sworn Lords and family in tow, he was dressed in a green doublet with a cloak bearing his sigil fastened by a turtle brooch. The young lord had been disappointed by the lack of a fight and it showed in his face however he still fashioned a winning smile and a bow for his Lord Cousin "Robert! It seems this Reachmen really are flowery avoiding a fight as they did!" He laughed heartly and took a seat on his cousin's right hand, a bit presumptous some would say.

"Cowards!", Robert agreed, already roaring in laughter since he had drunken already alcohol, "Ha, Tyrell will bow to us, when we meet eachother upon field! His whole army will piss itself, when they only see our host! Ha!"
A part of the guests cheered and laughed as well about the joke, before the Stormlord offered his cousin as well a cup of wine.
"Come, Andrew, we shall nevertheless celebrate what we did so far", he said with a smile, while deciding to go out of the tent with him, "My mood is not the best since all this stuff happened... but don't worry, we'll get a worthy battle. Even if it only will happen, when we encounter the Dragon Prince. That bastard!"
    He spitted on the floor.

    Lord Andrew Estermont, Grassy Vale

Lord Andrew laughed "I wouldn't care to smell the Battlefield after! Estermont accepted the wine and downed the cup at once before refilling and following his Lord outside."A drink to that! Never worry cousin we'll shove a spear up Rhaegar's bunghole then it's off to save Lyanna!
"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. He would nearly have missed Lord Andrew's last words, as he spotted suddenly aside the field a wonderful Reach woman from the village, going through the camp. The imagery, however, vanished quickly, even though the desire for her has gotten him in his drunken mood. Later the Stag will catch his prey.
"True words from a true Baratheon!", Robert agreed then to him with a smile, turning his attention back to the Lord after the few seconds of absence, "Rhaegar will be slain by my hand, I promise Lyanna this."
