How to Increase formation distance ?

Hello,
I would like to fix one of the main issues Empire Total War has : Too tight formations. I do not mean the distance inside the regiment but the one between regiments. It causes the AI to have units get into each other, and therefore not shoot. That is a major flaw for the AI.

I would like to, in order to improve the AI, increase the distance between the regiments in AI formations, but how ?

I did decrease the distance between units inside regiments (not between regiments) and increased the number of ranks the units are in. But it does not work, the formations do not change, only the units get smaller and more vulnerable to artillery.

Any ideas ?

I noticed that the Imperial Destroyer mod's changelog for v3.85 includes "Larger space between units" (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-project-v3-85). Maybe someone from the Imperial Destroyer team could tell you how they did it?
