Issues starting Third Age Total War

I'm having an interesting issue starting the game up. I installed both parts of the game, (though the first part took like 6 hours), went through the installation wizard, downloaded the patch (3.2 only, as 3.1 was taken down, I guess due to a virus?) and clicked on the desktop shortcut it created. It goes into the normal Medieval II loading screen, stays there for about 10 seconds, and then crashes back to the desktop. It does this every time. Total War II and Kingdoms both run perfectly. I'm not great with computers, so I would love a detailed, simple explanation. Thanks!

I have the same problems, but without the patch installed, so I would like to know how to fix it as well

1) What Windows do you have?

2) Is your M2TW a Steam or non Steam version?

3) There is no error message during the installation?


You need TATW 3.0 Both parts, and only 3.2 Patch, 3.1 is not needed.

When I try to use the shortcut it says windows cannot find kingdoms.exe

Be sure to run all TATW Installers as an Administrator ( right mouse click on .exe file and Run as an Administrator).

Sorry I'm so late, forgot I even made this thread! Anyway, I have a Windows 8, and I don't know if the Windows 7 instructions apply to me or not. Does anybody know what to do for a Windows 8? If so, I would greatly appreciate the help.
