    Default Eternal Crusade

Warhammer: Age of Reckoning (WAR) was a disappointment. Warhammer Dark Millennium never made it to launch. However now Eternal Crusade is coming and its certainly an interesting proposal.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTNM5ctNHMk

Third person shooter with persistent world and territorial conquests with up to a thousand players taking part in a battle.

Like Dawn of War for the vanilla release Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks are playable and each faction is able to fight or ally with the other three (each faction has four playable Race/Sub Factions such as the Chapters for Space Marines (Blood Angels) (Dark Angels) (Space Wolves) (Ultramarines)). Apparently all the Free to Play people will be able to play as Ork Boys (apparently the Buy to Play Ork players would be Nob equivalents so they can go toe to toe with space marines and eldar specialists) because WAAAAGH! I really like the idea that the factions are designed to be asymmetric and balanced actively by events screwing over the winning side rather than through tweaking stats periodically with patches. They also said that Tyranids and (hinted at Necrons or a yet unknown race) will be in game as a PVE element that makes up approximately 15% of the game play as its focused on PvP. I presume that if the other three factions ganged up on Space Marines and the SM were taking heavy set backs the Tyranids could come into play and crush the coalition to take pressure off the SM.

It should be fun if its not terrible. I for one will wait and see.

I would prefer a RTS game (I'm not a FPS fan), at tactical level, IMO this is the best scale for 40k, instead here we have another FPS, well, OK, I hope it will be a good FPS (though looking at the previous titles of the company ...), anyway we'll see, eagerly awaiting for news, if GW is closely involved, the plot will be good for sure and GW pretend some quality for 40k games, so, great is the hope!

I like reading of new titles for 40k, we need new games for the best SF Universe ever created.

It's not Dawn of War 3, but it does seem like its a Dawn of War MMO. And its apparently third person shooter. I should change that. It'll be like Space Marine but with more people and options. Space Marine was a very good game if limited by only having Space Marines vs Chaos Space Marines in the PVP and only being able to play as the Captain guy in the campaign. Also apparently the dungeons will be procedure generated which is good news.

It seems pretty diverse for a shooter so I'm letting myself get excited for it. You've got four factions, five "races" per faction (four revealed, one yet to be determined), and at least six classes which probably vary a lot in terms of load outs. I mean I can be a Space Marine: Dark Angel: Devastator: Plasma Cannon Guy and run around leaving charred boots because their owners knew too much. That's going to be a ton of re-playable content. Wraith Guard is going to be epic I hope. A giant warrior made of living stone armed with a gun that literally sends its targets to hell. Yeah!

I'm just worried that if its Free to Play/Buy to Play its going to be a lower quality experience unless they plan to sustain ongoing development through expansions. I don't want to play Guild Wars 2.
    "There's no subscription."
    "But its ."
    "But there's no subscription."
"Okay so now I've still spent money for a game but now I'm not going to play because it isn't good."
    "But there's no subscription."

There really hasn't been a great Warhammer game besides Dawn of War. Its time for another.

    instead we have another fps?

    what were the other fps'?

eternal crusade, from the very very early footage, looks to be adopting much of the console game Space Marine's core gameplay features. As Space Marine was generally pretty fun to play i have no problem with that.

I welcome it but i expect it will end up being arena-based and thus not to my liking as an MMO (i believe MMOs should truely be MASSIVE! not a damn social hangout with UT-style arenas and some progression to ur character - see Eve Online and/or Planetside 1 and 2. PS1 came out in 2002? 3? eve came out in 2003... and yet still publishers and developers are choked in the creative market by the stream of WoW clones, itself a clone of Everquest; where it all began). Sad no further footage has been released.

I for one will be buying it to play as the Eldar. Hopefully, Striking Scorpions, Howling Banshees, Dire Avengers, Swooping Hawks and Shining Spears will be playable. 4chan's Eldar clan will be hilariously called Clan Dakkaface

The developer said that there would be seamless zones like WoW and it can handle a thousand people fighting over an area. If that works out its great. Apparently you'd have 10 man groups called squads and then 100 man raids called strike forces. Several of those would engage with each other with human leadership. It sounds more like Planetside than anything else.

Are you referring to any title in particular? ... perhaps, for example, to the greatest failure of the century, containing the letters 'R', 'T', and 'W' and the number '2'? ....

Actually I'd call Rome 2 bad developers succeeding. Those are some pretty incompetent people who still managed to make a decent if below expectations game.

They definitely made their cash back and I don't hate it.

I levelled up almost all careers . Mostly Order ones but had one Disciple too . I have been a W40K fan at that time
I played mostly in hope that one day W40K MMO will be made . Strangely enough, after I have quited in 2012 I started to get some interest in Warhammer Old World
Mainly by reading tons of books
Iron Company ,Grimblades, Reiksguard, novels and stories bout bounty hunter , Neferata,Sigmar, Gotrek and Felix, Malus ,Grey Seer Thanquol ,series Warhammer Heroes like Luthor Huss,Skulltaker, and many ,many others .
The best I liked has been Palace of the Plague lord and Wulfrik, showing how difficult to deal with Chaos .
Admittedly that very pretty boy -Sigvald a prince of slaane had quite a story ,hadn't he

I started in the beta and played for several months post beta. Tried all the classes. Enjoyed the art style and questing. Excellent content at the time. However the emphasis on PVP particularly the battlegrounds turned the game into a glorified MOBA with a monthly subscription. Had they gone for a PVE focus and really fleshed out the game world properly it would have had more longevity for me. It was also buggy as which I expected because it was new but it certainly didn't help sell the game.

The game was unfinished at release and while they added additional content they never finished the core game.

I wasn't going to pay to play a game in that unpolished form. It hurt me to stop playing because I am a warhammer fan. I always meant to go back to it but it went free to play and that basically signaled that they gave up trying to fix it. Now its not even being supported. The servers are all shut down for good.

Space Marine didn't have thousand person battles. So I'm willing to dial back the visual fidelity.

I'm just worried about game play because they're not showing anything up to date.
