In the year 1545, Japan is in turmoil. The many powerful daimyos are vying for control of the country, scarring the land with constant warfare. While the war never seems to cease in Japan, over the Sea is a different nation. One united people, the Joseons (Koreans) are a nation ruled by the Yi clan. Their land is rich and plentiful, and could give some of the Japanese clans the resources they need to finally unite the nation. But beware, Korea will not be easy to hold. Not only do you have to fight through one of the most powerful navies on the sea, you will also encounter an interesting land campaign. Korea will be hard to hang on with their different religion and culture as well as the Koreans sending large armies against you.Though there troops aren't near the caliber of the samurai, they are determined to fight! So will you take up the challenge, and do what Toyotomi Hideyoshi could never do; finally conquer foreign land and create an even more powerful united Japan? Or will you be the ruler to take the Koreans to turn the tables and launch a glorious invasion of Japan?
Hey everyone this is a quick preview from the team that is creating the Morning Sun mod. We are getting relatively close to a release so we wanted to go ahead and show off some of the features, new units, and other things from the mod.
Factions
For the first release, you will be able to play the original Shogun 2 factions for the campaign as well as Joseon Korea. We hope in the future to make Ming China as a playable faction in the campaign and create an even bigger world to conquer! In custom battles, you can also play as Ming China, Joseon Korea, and all the new units that come with them!
The Map
The map for the campaign has been redone! As well as all the other features of the extended Japan mod, you can also fight in Korea! That's right, its fully accessible and conquerable. Later, we may try to add parts of China to the map as well. Here are a couple pictures.

Gameplay
There are also a couple of gameplay changes that will be added to the game. The campaign will run on 12 turns per year with the tech trees and units builds changed accordingly. Some units such as archers and cavalry will take much longer to train as it took a longer to master riding and how to use a bow. For Korea, we added a new building tree to give it more flavor compared to the Japanese clans. We also added 2 new religions; Neo-Confuscianism and Seon-Buddhism. These are unique to Korea, and will make holding onto Korean provinces a bit harder. In the future, a new tech tree and more unique traits will be added to Korea to make it more exciting to play. As we release versions, we hope to use your feed back to balance and make this mod better!
Units
Here are some pictures of the new units that are in creation.
