    Actually you can
    .

(basic translation: he has a Core 2 Duo 6300 and without the amd optimizer he got 5600 points and with the amd optimizer he got 5940 to 6024 points.)

The amd optimizer can improve performance on a Core 2 Duo. (he was very surprised himself)

    Yes, just try it.
Worst thing that can happen is you have to uninstall it again.

Actually it's not that surprising if it works for both AMD dual core and intel Core 2 processors because:

The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.
Core 2 has the same kind of power management mechanisms that AMD chips have.
(P4's were lacking those mechanisms, that's why they were running so hot in comparinon to both Core 2 and AMD)

You mean those Germans from that forum, or AMD?

    AMD is certainly crafty.
I can only imagine the looks on the faces of intel employees when they found out AMD optimized intel chips.
"They did WHAT to make our Core 2's faster???"

In that case, I am putting a ATI driver on my 7900 GT, in theory it should work but I said no for the fact that I would not advise it because it could ruin the processor. He CAN use it, but NO I wouldn't. Besides, just because it gave him a better number, doesn't prove the optimizer did anything. I mean CPUz cannot accurately display processor voltage. Not impressed.

You have no idea what the AMD duo core optimizer is, huh?
It's not a driver, nor an overclocking tool.

It's just a little program that fixes a bug in Windows XP.
Apparently this bug affects both AMD and intel dual core processors.
