    Default Ten Towers, Harlaw

    House Harlaw

    "The Ruthless Survive"

Incumbent Lord: Ivar "The Ragged" Harlaw, Lord of Harlaw, Lord of Ten Towers, Harlaw of Harlaw

Ten Towers is home to the richest and one of the most powerful of the Ironborn families; House Harlaw. This powerful family, with a proud bloodline which relates the house to many Iron Kings, controls the entire island of Harlaw, which is rich in gold and iron mines, owing to their prosperity and survival as a house. Ten Towers itself is a relatively new creation, constructed by Lord Theomore Harlaw after he lost three sons due to the damp and flooded conditions of the previous seat, Harlaw Hall. Ten Towers is, in essence, ten castles smashed together, a bizarre sight to see, but it is a hard fortress to capture. Built on the edge of a cliff overlooking the beach of Harlaw, the sheer scale of Ten Towers makes it difficult to assault, as well as it's position on high and rocky ground. The naval might of house Harlaw is present in the docks below the fortress, while a force of trained yet brutal retainers patrol the castle in the name of their new Lord. Fisherman linger along the beach, small rowing boats dotting the rough ocean that surrounds the fortress.

A large town is present underneath the fortress, where the bustling day to day life of the town continues on, oblivious to everything that occurs off the island, their world dominated by the seemingly magnificent fortress that lords over them all, quietly observing.

Home of the Ironborn: Like the rest of the Iron Islands, the people of Harlaw live on the sea as much as they do the land. All characters get +10% pillage.

Strong Castle: The newest castle in the Iron Islands and one of the strongest, Ten Towers (so named because it looks more like ten castles pushed together than one castle) was built by House Harlaw after their previous seat of Harlaw Hall flooded. +3 to siege defense.

Ironborn Fleet: The Ironborn lords have access to a large amount of longships: 10% discount when buying ships.

Largest Island: Harlaw is a large ironborn island, and thus has an increased population and grants an additional 500 land levy points and 150 naval points

Fleets (Stationed on the Iron Islands)

    550 points

    5 Grand Warships (50 points)
    10 Ironborn Warships (80 points)
    50 Dromonds (150 points)

Snarling guards meet the drowned man at the doorway; the heavily armoured men nodding heir heads in respect to the drowned man that would not be afforded to others who would seek out The Lord Harlaw. The great hall gates swing open to allow him inside, before crunching shut again. Ivar sat on the throne at the end of the hall; amusing himself by tossing a small, golden coin. He didn't seem to notice the drowned man, but the guards motioned him through the silent, graveyard like hall nonetheless.

Farlun eyes the guards steadily, as he entered through the hall gates, before looking up at the Lord of Harlaw, Ivar. He tried to catch the man's gaze but it looked like Farlun had not been noticed, so instead Farlun walked up through the graveyard like hall, his eyes set straight on the men whom he wished to speak to. Not until he was a few steps away from the throne did he notice the small, golden coin Ivar was amusing himself with. In a mixture of a cough and a grunt Farlun said, "Ivar Harlaw, I need to speak with you, have you heard the news of what happens on the green lands?"

Ivar tossed the coin into the air and caught it. Kings head up. Grinning wolfishly, he showed it to the Drowned man, walking slowly from his throne towards him.

King Aerys has got himself quite a few admirers in the Great Lords of Westeros with his "very noble" treatment of the wolf men.

Ivar giggled childishly, before letting the coin drop to the cold, stone floor.

The dragons will soon be dead, I wager, not that I care. the Greenlanders.

The merchant cog was a small, agile thing. Its stripped sails, red-and-blue, fluttered proudly in the breeze. Out of respect or fear, the ship remained off of the coast of the island, and instead deployed several small rowing boats. On board the six boats were a score of men and crates upon wooden crates.

"Here is hoping that we leave here successful," grumbled Samwell to his brother-in-law, the fierce looking Mace Durwell.

"Ache, the ironborn are hard to please. Let us at least hope to get back in one piece."

    Sam couldn't disagree on that.

At the head of a column of knights and carts, Samwell rode up to the gates of Ten Towers, requesting an audience.

A huge, brute of a guard leads a small patrol forward to meet them. Grunting, he stretches out a fat, sausage like finger, and points at the man leading the column.

"You. Follow." He grunts, before the gates of Ten Towers creak open.

The column slowly trudged in to the castle, the men wary of an unprovoked attack by the Ironborn.

The men enter the great hall, surrounded by the guards. As they approach the throne of Harlaw, they see Ivar, seated nonchalantly, inspecting Nightfall.

"My lord Harlaw!" Samwell called out, offering the man a shallow bow. "I come at the command of High Lord Garlan Rowan. He wishes to bring mutual prosperity to our peoples. Our fruits for your iron."

He revealed a document which held the details of such a transaction, and pondered whether to offer it to the lord or place it on the floor.

Ivar shuffles in his seat, offering a sly grin to Lord Rowan.

    Trade, you say?

    He leans forward and giggles.

Why would I trade hard, cold iron for an apple or peach? What can I make with a plum? I do hope this is in jest, flower man.

Sam decided to drop the document on the ground. His men formed up on him as he made to leave. Mace made to say something to his brother-in-law, but an angry wave silenced him. He hated to always be wrong, but at least this endeavour's failing were not of his cause.

None of the reachmen spoke until they were back on their trader, the fruits they had brought with them still in the courtyard of Ten Towers.
