Default This application is not compatible

This is my problem: I can install up to MTW2 Kingdoms, but not start the game. I'll get the message:"This application is not compatible with the installed operating system. Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, 2000 or better".

    I have Windows 8.

I change compatibility of the launcher but still the same problem.

Win 8/8.1? Disable the UAC preferably via the registry.

Ok I found out: User Account Control.
I tried to launch the game as administrator (is that not the same as no UAC?), but get the same message.

This game is too old for Microsoft's security BS. The only ways around it in win 8/8.1 is disable the UAC.
If not successful, take ownership of C: drive.
If not successful, install the game outside Program Files and Program Files (x86).
Logged in as AdmInistrator, "Run as Administrator" are considered musts. Also consider XP compatible mode.

This security BS problem is as old as Vista's release.

Thanks for your speedy help. I'll try.

RTW has no problem like this.

I know. I had RTW installed about two years ago without the problems Medieval2 has thrown. The only two real differences I have noticed are different copy protection schemes and different dxrectx/.Net versions. What past this, I don't know.
