    Icon3 Suggestion regarding building slot problem.

    I see that I am not the only one that hates the 5/6 max building slots per city.

    How about we concentrate more buildings in the value of one slot? Let's say we build a tier 1 chieftain hold. After we advance to the final tier, wouldn't you like to be able to upgrade to chieftain hold IV + tavern I (then II, III etc) that give both building bonuses? Or chieftain hold IV + grain market etc. To keep the spirit of specialised provinces you can make it so that you can only build civic + civic, military + military etc. I think concentrating buildings can work well with all building types besides temples (doesnt make sense unless you think of a temple complex) and can add much more variety to hybrid provinces or even full specialised ones.

    I think this would also help the game later on since you can strive for even more progression and it would also add strategic depth to the game since a raze will be much more dangerous for a developed city of yours.. especially if you can get the AI to understand that =)

    This is an interesting idea and I've been using some of the same logic in the work I'm doing (getting more out of building slots we do have). I think the biggest issue is it would be a lot more like you are just upgrading a building chain to get more buffs in the current system. Finding a way where it was intuitive and made sense to the player would be the number one hurdle as I see it.

    I personally hate the idea of province 'specialization.' It's something I'd rather eliminate from the game.

    I don't find it that counter intuitive.. the way I have this imagined, you can build a shipwright up to tier IV and then, instead of nothing you get expanding branches of that final building just like you would when you had tier III only now you can chose if the buildings "2nd" spec would be trade, military or fish port. Of course, for variety's sake maybe the 2nd option can't be built above tier III, so you have a main role for that slot and an improvement one.
