How to replace unit models?

I would like to replace the model and skin of light men at arms with model and skin of retinue longbowmen. I tried to edit the export_desc_unit, but it wound up not only changing model and skin, but also their weapons.

Could anyone please help me with this?

Its not easy if you have no experience modding. So you want the model of light men at arms but to use longbows? Here is a tutorial. Just follow the steps in order.

Well actually, it is supposed to be the other way around. I want to have light men at arms using the armor of longbow men...
