Police killed in New Brunswick Canada

'Murika didn't want to be left behind, shooting at Seattle University.
It's not even a gun problem, it's literally American culture.
There are many reasons one might envy the United States and it is perfectly reasonable to want to emulate our strengths.
However I think its best if you leave epic gun battles to the people who know what they're doing before someone gets hurt.

poor mounties. how can they stand against maple syrup rambo?
Canadian police tend to have significantly better training then there American counterparts, and three dead officers is not a laughing matter.poor mounties. how can they stand against maple syrup rambo?
It happened yesterday, and the manhunt is still ongoing.
I'm curious what circumstances had 5 officers in a position to get shot, and how that person (who has been identified) is still on the run after having been seen at least once today.
On a side note, I wonder why is it common to report only people killed and not so much people wounded. It acn really gives a false impression of what happened.

Yeah we had five cops shot in the next town over a while back but only one died so it barely made news outside of the area. Of course he was one of my friend's step dads so that was prettyed.
It probably wasn't much of a story because the guy was dealing drugs and killed himself and his girlfriend after he shot the cops who were raiding his house or something. All the ends got tied up. Not much a story to follow.

Well I spoke too soon, the man's been caught.

Though I still wonder about the initial encounter there's really nothing more to this. The suspect had a history of hating police, gun loving and listening to metal and all that American craziness.

My condolences to the victims of this deranged looney. I don't like cops as much as the next guy, but (most) of them don't deserve to die, especially at the other end of a gun held by a lunatic like this.
Hey now, don't be badmouthing my beloved genre of metal.I just might have to give you a nice hefty overdose of metal to make you see the light, Sire. Guantanamo Bay style, with sleep deprivation.

Does this thread have any purpose other than to serve as a pissing contest? Or is it just a bad one?

Wonder if the Canadians will tighten gun regulations.

While I don't care for the actual deaths themselves, i'm hoping my Government will investigate how this happened. Realistically speaking, 3 professionally trained officers shouldn't have been killed by this mere thug, so obviously the training courses for the RCMP are inadequate, or the Government hires incompetent idiots to become RCMP officers. This investigation can be looked at after this thug dies though.
There is another option to solve this situation though. Since this guy was able to take out 3 professional trained police officers, why not hire him in the RCMP or Army? He obviously has the skills required for such jobs so the only thing the Government would have to do is keep an eye on him 24/7.
That's a terrible, terrible idea and I hope you're joking. The guy is a deranged animal who went on a murderous rampage. Giving him any sort of vindication like this would be like spitting in the faces of the families of his victims.
You've said in another thread that you aspire to not only become a general, but also the Prime Minister of Canada. With ideas like this, I can see you're well on your way.![]()
How exactly is it a terrible idea? The way I see it, this guy knows a few trade skills that can be a valuable asset to the JTF2(Canadian special forces) or the RCMP itself. If we get this guy on board and have him join our Army or police force, we can monitor him/keep him in line AND use his skills in which he was able to take care of 3 professionally trained police officers, who were supposedly proficient in hand to hand combat as well as firearms training. It's a fine solution in my opinion and if I was in charge I wouldn't rule out the possibility of hiring him.
Before any of that happens though, the Government needs to launch an investigation and compile all of the information they can.
EDIT: Having him join our special forces could be accomplished by "under the table" deals. For example, let's say we give him a life sentence; we then quietly(Without any of the public knowing) have him join the RCMP or special forces so that way, the public is satisfied in knowing that he's behind bars and the JTF2 can utilise his particular set of skills. Like I said, killing 3 RCMP officers isn't an easy task considering they're trained in hand to hand combat as well as firearms so he obviously has skills, or the RCMP officers weren't skilled. I like to think that our RCMP officers are the finest on the planet and have extensive training.

it doesnt matter how much training and experience a unit has, if it gets ambushed, its gonna take casualties. For example the Golanis in Bint Jbeil, the Marines in Fallujah, the veteran Talib regiments around Tora Bora. Suprise will always trump training and experience.
Possibly, but 5 RCMP officers who are professionally trained in hand to hand combat and firearms got taken out by 1 guy. I just don't see how it's possible for these RCMP officers to break when they're given the best equipment the Government can buy, rigorous training that prepares them for incidents such as this and they're University educated. I can only think of 3 conclusions as to why this happened:
A)This shooter is incredibly skilled
B)The RCMP officers in question are incompetent idiots which leads me to the question of how are they even RCMP officers?
C) The RCMP training program is obsolete and thus it needs to be revamped; that means more time spent on hand to hand combat training and firearms training
I would expect these kind of casualties if American police were involved but these were RCMP officers...the finest in the world. Details are still a bit sketchy regarding how this happened though, so for all we know this guy could've taken out the RCMP officers out one at a time, and thus isolating them in which case i'm giving him too much credit. If this guy did indeed take down 5 RCMP officers within the same proximity then this is a serious concern.
