Default Missing most battle and some campaign sounds

Exactly as the thread title states.

I am missing most of the sounds from battle: arrows, movements/marching sounds, charge sounds, fighting sounds (i.e shouts, clash of weapons and roar of much dying).

Along with some sounds from the campaign map.

    Any ideas folks?

IF you had sound issues before you installed anything besides original SS then its probably a bad install. You can try 1 thing to see if it works.

Open the sounds folder located in your SS data folder. You will see a bunch of .idx and .dat files. Delete them all then start the game. The game will automatically rebuild those files, sometimes they get messed up.

If that doesnt work you need to re install.

Yeah, been there done that, got the T-Shirt. Have also reinstalled twice, as well as fresh install of MedII. Still doesn't fix the issue.

    Any other suggestions, people?

Actually no. If you did a fresh install of everything and your still having issues that either your SS download is corrupt somehow or there is another issue. Ill see if someone more knowledgeable has an answer for you.

Then it's a matter of the txt files, unless those sounds are supposed to be custom.

First unpack the sound files in the SS folder and move the new directory into the correct spot (the unpacker's output is one level up) , then delete the idx and dat files.

No guarantee it will work, though.
