Longbow recruitment as Leon

I am playing leon and in Caevaron (the castle in wales), I can recruit longbowmen with a practice range but not with the higher tier ranges (any higher than practice range). I'm wondering why this is so.

Are longbowmen available to factions other than england? I had the heavy mail event occur but I can't recruit longbownmen anymore at all as Leon.

Yes they are but only at england's starting regions and neighbouring ones (france, ireland and scotland) although the former have it in less availability.

the fix uniformed other factions requirements for longbows to those of england, so they are available around 1270-90 (with english archers event)
previously other factions could get longbowmen with the heavy mail event at practice ranges only and then when it was upgraded to archery range or further they had to wait for english archer event.

I might change this fix to allow a limited appearance of longbowmen between heavy mail and english archer events so it is not only consistent with the info here from the latest RR, but also because it makes sense since longbows were already been used, though sparsely, before 1270 from when the english began to use it increasingly.

I mean they were being used on the British Isles as early as 633 so maybe they can be available from the start?

well welsh rebels do have them from the start i think if encounter them you could bribe them to your service (dont remember if they are also available as mercenary early on)
But for the fix I'll stick to RR parameters.
