help please with upgrading unit armor with new model

Good day fellow modders. I would like to ask kindly for some help regarding upgrading a unit. I understand how to create a new unit etc, but I cant seem to find how link one unit to another to replace it.

eg. Militia Hoplites will turn into a form I created that has light armor once the armorer is built in the region. (this would be an regional effect if possible) so you can click on the M.H unit card and use the button already there to upgrade the unit AND in that region the new militia hoplite will be built as well. (the same way you can upgrade the early rome characters after the tech is built)
