Question/idea regarding reforms
This all depends on whether in game research trees can be changed in terms of where they are on the tree and what they do. If it cant be done sorry for wasting everyones time with this question.
Right now reforms are based off of 2 things, Imperium and turn number. While I love the reform system in essence, I don't really like how I will just get all my thureos or thorax units once I get to a certain turn every single game. Is it possible that instead, you unlock the general reform at a certain imperium and turn number, but unlocking some of the more elite units at that reform level would require the proper research in the military or civil tech tree.
For instance it was know that the agoge no longer existed during the time period rome 2 takes place, but perhaps to fully unlock all the units at the thureos reform level you would have to not only have the required imperium and required date, but also require a certain military tech like the "agoge" for Sparta or "Ephebos" for Athens, essentially implying a more professional focus on military. An example of this is the Marian reforms for rome, and im sure one could create an equivalent for the Successor states like "professional training" or something. Another big one is the in game Spartan commandos. Realistically these commandos were products of the krypteia. Since the Krypteia was more of a secret police than anything else, perhaps it could be part of the civil tech tree, but none the less you would need to research this type of training to get these soldiers, instead of them simply being supplied by reaching a certain reform.
This is just an idea, but I would love to see something like this integrated instead of the "have X imperium, and hit end turn X amount of times for a reform". And like I said please don't think im knocking on the current reform system, its extremely innovative and I love it, Im just trying to see if it could be pushed alittle further.

Re: Question/idea regarding reforms
well you still need reseach to build the buildings you need to have those units. I think that that needs enough turns.

Re: Question/idea regarding reforms
Some of the elite units do require the higher tier barracks (so you do have to research those buildings).
The reason we chose turn number is that it was a compromise from historical date (which would take forever to reach due to 4TPY).
