Icon4 State of the Mod, 0.9 and going forward

I realize many of our loyal player base has been anxiously awaiting the 0.9 release and we appreciate your continued patience and support. We believe that transparency and communication is an important part of having an active and healthy community, especially in the modding world. So, I wanted to let you guys know about what has been happening and how it currently affects the mod and the mod's future.

About a month ago, we lost contact with Selea. He had said he would be going back to work and would be much more busy than normal, so we thought it was simply that. However, we have not heard from him since that time. This is especially troubling because he is extremely passionate about this project and poured 9 months of his life into this mod. We are concerned that something bad has happened, but we honestly don't know at this time. Selea was (and still is) the heart of the project and the force that brought many of us together as a team.

While we remain very worried about him, the show must go on. Luckily, working with him for so long has allowed us to come together as a team and we are not unprepared for the situation. We still hope he returns to the project, but for now we continue on.

    0.9 Update
These events have caused the 0.9 update to be massively delayed. Once again, I am sorry for this and truly apologize to many players who have been waiting to start their new campaigns. Since most of our compiled materials were now gone, including many crucial changes that only Selea knew or could do, we were in a bit of a bind. Then, the new DLC hit and put us even further back. I am very proud of our team for being able to come together and work as a unit to reconstitute the update and even learn new skills in order to complete it.

So, I do promise that we will get 0.9 out to you as soon as we can. It will (hopefully) be in testing by the end of this week so we can release a finished product to you all. I also apologize for the lack of communication over the past month, we have all been in a bit of a scramble mode. I try to be more active than I have been lately on the forums and will attempt to do better going forward in that regard.

    After 0.9
Now that it seems we will indeed be able to release 0.9 (that was somewhat in question for a short time), the mod will continue as previously planned. We have excellent modders on all of our various teams with specific plans for the future. We plan to release a 0.95 version that contains some more faction overhauls. Then 1.0 will most likely be a fine-tuning and error-fixing update. After 1.0, we will continue working on improving the mod and adding features.

Thank you all once again for your continued patience and support.

Thank you for a great mod. Im a fan of rome total war since it first release in 2004 i think. I was at school back than and this game got me interested in history , so later i passed my history exam very well Had one great mod called Rome Surrectum II and was playing it for years.
Now the best mod by my opinion is DEI and Im playing it at the moment (Turn 487 ). The only thing that I wish was included - unique roman legions like in Rome Surrectum 2 . Everything else is great. Keep up the good work and dont drift away from historical accuracy You have a lot of fans

First of all, thank you for taking the time to inform us about all that has been going on about the mod, it shows that the team cares about it's followers. Second, I hope Selea is just extremely busy at the time and nothing more serious, my only recommendation (if you haven't done it already) is perhaps recruiting more people into the modding team (even part-time) that might reduce a little the delays caused by Selea being absent.

For my part, I'll wait patiently for the next updates so take the time you think is necessary to deliver a good update. I hope the best of luck to the whole mod-team and this amazing project.

We aren't necessarily lacking in manpower, its just that we had to redo many parts that were either done or close to done. However, I am sure we will be open to adding new modders once things calm down a bit and we release the update. There is never anything wrong with having more viewpoints and quality assistance

Thank you for the update Dresden. It is because of my respect for the hard work, honesty and openness of the DeI Team that I've supported this mod since it was first released nearly a year ago

Very unfortunate and upsetting to hear about Selea's sudden disappearance. Several years ago, a well-known moderator and community member at a website I now moderate at abruptly disappeared. To this day none of us know exactly what happened to him Hopefully this situation is resolved much more positively and Selea returns more passionate and fired up than ever (which is saying quite a lot!)

Cheers Dresden. We all love this mod. To think of the hard earned cash i spent on CA dlc, would have prefered to give it to you guys for all your hard work. Bad news about Selea

Im sorry about Selea and hope he is indeed doing alright. And want to thank you for your continued dedication to this mod. But when you say "Since most of our compiled materials were now gone, including many crucial changes that only Selea knew or could do, we were in a bit of a bind." does that mean these materials have now been recovered or replaced? or just written off as a loss? Im just kind of curious as to what they were.

They are being replaced and redone. Litharion has really stepped up to help with scripting especially.

Nothing has really been lost, since we're all been sitting on different pieces of it. It has mostly been a matter of stitching it back together. The problem has lain with the scripts, because that was Selea's forte, but I believe it has finally been resolved as well thanks to the efforts of Litharion.

Dresen if u can tell on what u are working at right now?

Can u give us some cookie... and tell what we might see in 0.9?

Because from many reasons and many problems could smth change.

From my opinion most important things is to upgrade units not delete all stack and form new one ( dunno if is possible and modable).second is work on polishing balance of units... they power armor shields etc etc etc... and better balance of survivor of nations...

Im love u work and than u for your hard work and time.

Yes, Getae will actually have reformed units in 0.9. Also, we are implementing a culture system to go with the AoR that requires a faction to have majority culture in order to recruit their core units in a province (unless its a province that was historically that culture, then you don't have the requirement).

Fortunately, yes. I do not believe reforms will be an issue moving forward.

Also, regarding 0.95, because we have many people in the team, some have been working on that release as 0.9 has been delayed. This means that we will most likely be able to push 0.95 out relatively soon after 0.9. The feature list for 0.95 isn't yet finished, but it will contain faction revamps for Numidia and Royal Scythia. The Ardiaei and Odryssian kingdom will also be expanded to feature more considerable reform support with more late-game units.

Numida? I think Parthia and Baktria need a revamp at least before Numidia if 0.95 doesn't have a revamp of Parthia or Baktria.
