I am just curious why there are nt some Etruscans or Samnites in form of Protectorates in Italy ?

Rome was buffed a few months back by giving them all italian regions.
No ? Rome is still too weak, When all Ai and player are an big Imperium the Rome still have maiby 3 provinces max (in about 100 turns) .
All Orks is equal, but some Orks are more equal dan uvvas.
The grand campaign map simply isn't detailed or big enough for Rome to have Italian protectorates.
It would be nice to have the etruscans back, I quite liked them. I remember at one point seeing something about the DEI team making the start date earlier and having more factions in italy, does anyone know what happened to that?
The Etruscans were removed for both historical and gameplay reasons. They had been defeated and forced to become allies/protectorate and were eventually absorbed.
The truth is that Rome actually seeded colonies all over Italy next to existing Italian cities. Sadly the game just isn't designed to portray that.
Also it is not historically accurate for Italy to have these independent factions in the game timeframe. The Etruscans were mostly conquered before the Pyrrhic wars and the end of the Samnite wars was in 290bc. Only a few hill towns remained with some isolation from Rome and her allies. In gameplay terms, makes more sense to have them all as part of the republic but i guess socii revolts would be great to include in the future and then these factions could rise up if unhappy with their overlords...
haha you beat me to it Dresden :-)
Am I really glad they were removed, hated every minute of it trying to conquer/defeat them for some reason (etruscans)![]()
@m_1512 Nope, sorry. It was a while ago and I don't think it was an actual plan, more just a "we briefly considered this".
