Found the free demo on steam, just about to have a go. Was just wandering what dei fans thought of it
Could you provide a link to it?
Its on steam, Hegemony Gold Wars of Ancient Greece. Had a quick go. Good game considering 4 guys made it. Some nice ideas .They have a sequel coming. Rome haha
I only played for a few minutes but it seems rather good. I intend on buying it when i have the time to play it. It has some very cool features that i wish were in ROME total war.

EDIT: Another thing the map is enormous.

"To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true" ~ Aristotle
Oh boy. I cannot deal with the graphics. Best of luck to them though.
It is a good game, but after the total war games, I just can't deal with the small scale battles.
I am going to get both games if only to support longbow. Who knows, could be a totalwar beater some day. CA got a bit complacent from lack of competition
Seems very interesting... the only downside is like krunsh and zonk said, the small scale and graphic quality.
Still very good, I will have to check them out myself.
Hegemony: Greece is not worth the purchase, the AI does not initiate any actions and only responds. It will not conflict with other AI.
Rome is unfinished. While I enjoy it and the Warhammer-esque gameplay, I cannot recommend Rome either, because the AI has the same glaring issues; get ready to keep pushing the cart uphill alone, as you won't even be able to pretend the computer is pulling. By unfinished I also mean that the AI lets armies starve, which reduces their morale to zero. Maintaining a nation and the borders is easy (thought psychologically daunting, at first, until the AI issues are realized) as the AI will telegraph any movements it does make long before it makes them, only to arrive with starved, sub-par troops.
It can be quite fun for a short period of time before the issues become... showstopping. I've invested time with the XML files giving the AI a steadier food supply, removing bandits (often the AI will not be able to defeat the equivalent of 3/8ths stack of rebels), designating more weight to patrols, invasions, garrisons and scouting. It still comes down to the decision making being far too distributed for computer opponents, as goals are faction-wide and each faction plays as if a jellyfish adrift.
