Icon5 hello, could someone please help me?

Hello, I am having Issues on how to get my own custom variant meshes into Rome 2 using the assembly kit. When I mean my own custom I mean just designed in the variant editor. Now I am not that tech savvy and am wondering if anyone could tell me how to get my edited skins to appear in-game.(step by step would be appreciated)

I'm not really too familiar with the assembly kit, but PFM is a breeze. I highly recomend you use that instead. I actually wrote a tutorial on how to do exactly this with the assembly kit and PFM.

I don't like to post links so here's the whole goddamn thing

    ************************************************************

    STEP ONE: Create new folder

Step one is easy, you create a new folder on your desktop and name it variants or whatever. This is where your variant meshes will be stored and where you will find them when you want to put them into PFM

    STEP TWO: Create your uni
    t

Create your unit, I'm sure you know how to do that. For the sake of the tutorial I chose to edit the Legionaries mesh with a distinctive helmet and cloak.

STEP THREE: Save unit with a new name

Save your variantmesh with a new name. You should do this even if you intend to reskin an existing unit as sometimes the variants revert to the original. You can change the name later in PFM. For this tutorial I named the variantmesh "Sebidee_Roman"

STEP FOUR: Click on Load definition

Click on load definition and you will see a list of all the variantmeshes that you have created. You can see "Sebidee_Roman" at the end of the list.

    STEP FIVE: Copy and paste

Now, with the load definition menu open bring up your new folder and copy and paste your chosen variantmesh to the new folder. It may indicate that your computer is no longer responding but after a few seconds it will kick back in. Also you will only be able to do one variantmesh at a time.

STEP SIX: Close the Assembly Kit

You must close the assembly kit in order to save any changes you make in your mod. When you close the kit your variantmesh or meshes will exist in your folder for all eternity.

STEP SEVEN: Add the mesh to your mod in PFM

To add the mesh you must first create the proper pathways that the game must use. To do this just load up a random mesh from Models, you can delete it later. Next right click on that mesh you loaded click "Add" then "File(s)". You can then find the mesh in the folder, by saving it on desktop you make finding it just a little quicker.

STEP 8: Rename mesh and save.

If you are creating units then you don't have to rename, you can keep the same name if you wish and add the mesh to your game. If you are reskinning a vanilla unit then you must rename it to the exact same name as the vanilla mesh so that it will overwrite it, as I have done here. At this point you can also change the text of the variantmesh as you wish.

STEP 9: Save your mod and enjoy the unit in-game!

Make sure you save it in the proper place. You can see my funny looking Legionaries right here.

I hope this helps, good luck with your modding and enjoy!

I didnt really understand step 7...
So I first have to go to "Add" and then "From Pack", then "Models_Rome_2.pack", there the Variantmeshdefinitions and of there I can choose one of them, for example ill_hoplites.variantmeshdefinition.

When I have done this, I click right, then "Add" , then "File(s)". Then I choose my created Variantmeshdefinition (in my case, its Ven_Hoplites).
Fine, but now, in PFM it looks like this(sry, I have no screenshot-program):
    -Venetribal
    |
    ---Ven_Hoplites.VariantMeshDefinition
    |
    +db
    |
    -variantmeshes
    -variantmeshdefinitions
    -ili_hoplites.variantmeshdefinition

And my question is now, how can I bring them together?
